I have a 2 year old Golden Retriever who constantly itches his stomach and hind end. On the tip of his tail it feels like scabs all over… On his belly he has red spots all over his belly. I’m not sure if it could be a food allergy (he gets Iams dog food) or something else…. He’s had it for a month or so but we just switched his food in august…. does any body know??

it could def. be a food allergy.check with your vet.
also, make sure that he doesn’t have demodectic mange which causes scaly skin and hair loss.
here is some info about demodectic mange. the site includes pictures.

I think one key to your issue is that you switched foods in Aug. So many pet foods are loaded with things our pets don’t need, like corn, grains, too many carbs. Check your dog’s food to make sure that it is mainly meat, not grains or carbs. A dog needs meat, not corn! So the first ingredient should be meat and then there should be additional meats close to the top of the list.
Then, find a good supplement that will help with digestion, skin and coat, and add good things to your dog’s diet that are lacking in commercial foods. Remember, commercial foods are highly processed. Stick with the good food and supplements. It will save you money in the long run because you will avoid itchy skin, digestive issues, etc. and vet bills. Even watch the treats you give your dog, as most are simply corn in the shape of bones.
Think about it. If your diet was not quality, what kind of skin, hair, fingernails, breath, digestion…would you have? Eat fast food and junk food for a couple of months. It would take a while, but in a couple of months, your health would go downhill too, similar to what your dog is going through.
I recommend foods like Blue Buffalo or other meat based dog food. I recommend quality supplement like Dinovite or Supromega. And treats that are all meat like Nubonubs.
Give your dog a couple of months on a high quality food and supplement. Cut out junk food treats. I think you will be happy with the results and your dog will be too!
