My dog will not stop scratching and biting. Ive tried bathing him in doggy oatmeal bath and everything.?
Question by Sabrina: My dog will not stop scratching and biting. Ive tried bathing him in doggy oatmeal bath and everything.?
I am not sure what else to do. He just started doing it this badly about a couple weeks ago… He has always been very itchy, I just thought it was dandruff or something. But it has got to the point where he was bit and scratched bald spots.
I have not changed his food or dog shampoo or flea treatment so I am honestly lost here and I really am not in a financial place to take him to the vet here… They want 0 for the allergy test. So Please help.

If you’re willing to try then the raw diet often solves the problem. Not always but often.
If I was in your position I would definitely try it. I feed raw anyway because I believe it is far healthier and not because my dogs have allergies, but I have known people change because of the allergy and amazed at the results within a few weeks.
It is worth a try.

Food allergies are a common cause of chronic itching. Corn, wheat, and soy products are the most common allergens found in dog foods. Check the list of ingredients on your dog food bag. If it contains those things, try switching (gradually) to a different food. My dog was very itchy and is now doing great on Wellness. I didn’t bother with the allergy tests to find out exactly which ingredient was the culprit – I just avoid food and treats with any corn, soy, or wheat.
Look for another vet.
My puppy had an allergy to fleas. And we washed him in a flea shampoo, made it sooo much worse. We called the closest vet, (we just moved to a dif state and his previous vet is 500 ml away)
That vet recommended giving him Benadryl right away, so 1 mg per 1 lb of weight. So if he 60 lb, it will be 3 20mg tables. make sure it only contains diphenhydramine!!!!!!! no other active ingredients.
Do not wash the dog in flea shampoo, give him a bath in dish soap or baby soap. I think you over did with the shampoo.
My vet never said anything about allergy test. Just give him benadryl and buy doggy unti itch spray they have it at Walmart for 3$ with hydrocartizone.
Ifyou’dd dog is better, take him to a vet again, tell them that he is on Benadryl. If he is better, they wont require allergy test.
leave at home, while he is on pills.Don’t take him outside Not to expose him to anything else.
