My dog is losing his hair, could I get some help?
Question by Liberty: My dog is losing his hair, could I get some help?
I don’t think it’s mange, because mange is contagious, and my other animals haven’t caught it.
He bites at his skin, so I’m thinking it’s allergies. To fleas, or grass, or anything, I don’t know.
I thought I should try and get an answer from some of you before trying to see a vet.
Like a lot of Americans, I don’t have the money to see a vet, I’m only 17.
Thanks in advance, for your help…

You have a computer and in all probability a cell phone.
Sell one or both of these and go to the vet.
Your parents would probably take you to the doctor if you needed one, even if it did mean they had to cut back on the luxuries to help you.
You owe it to your dog.

There are some forms of mange that aren’t contagious, so don’t completely count that one out. If it is allergies, and it’s the right season for it, then go to the pet store and purchase the best quality oatmeal shampoo you can afford. You might even spring for a wash from a groomer since they have access to things that most of the general public doesn’t. The other thing you can do is give him benadryl (generic is fine) for the allergies. The vet would start with those things for allergies anyway, so no reason to not go ahead and try. If you end up with the vet, at least you can let them know what hasn’t worked.
it may be shedding season and you dog might have fleas. Explains the hair loss and biting of the skin
Look up info on your breed to see if he can suffer from allergies
