Sounds like you have may an allergy to a mold.
There was a product that was sold as a mouth wash.
It was Iodine based. This helped my dry throat. Next best was salt water gargle.
Honey and water help also. Do not talk at all for at least a week. The rest always helps.
Brian if there is a small tumor in the lung it may be causing the stretch receptors to send a message to the brain to cough up the foreign matter. Because it is solid it will not come up so you keep coughing Talk with your oncologist. A cough syrup with morphine will quiet the brain center so you won’t cough.
Hi Redwingcanoe made this comment I hit reply I must have hit remove. Brian, I had a radical mastectomy in Feb. It’s now April. This terrible cough and mucus began. The Dr. said I have Acid Reflux and put me on Omeprazole. I am in day 3 of that pill and don’t notice an improvement. I lost my voice also. I can talk if I take cough syrup. That lasts for a short period though. I have gone through numerous CT scans, MRI, bone density etc. tell me what to do about this.
Could be. Thanks. Brian
As I gotten older Ive got voice and minor allergy issues that I hope do not become severe. Perhaps you may have some side effects from treatments or medication.
Hi Brian, so your on chemo, what type of chemo are you on. Your cough sounds dry, have you tried Slippery Elm Lozenges, they sell at health food stores. I have cancer and was on Chem, never had a cough like that though. I wonder if it’s a side effect from you chemo? I get the sneezes, I will sneeze at least 15 times in a row happens shortly after my treatment. What have your Drs. said about this, it sounds painful. If I find out more I will send a post. God bless and good luck.
drink cool, not cold, clean water. sips will do, feels like itching from throat, possibly vocal cord being iritated. if you have a dry air source in your house drink more water. not much sense in taking cold medicine, you do not have a cold. see if you doctor can get you something. seems to do alright by me. i too have nsclc and have lost my voice. good luck to you. remember the important thing, enjoy life as much as posible. its what counts
Thanks.
May God Bless You
I’m really sorry to hear.
