California Natural is the best in my opinion for dogs with allergies…try the Lamb & Rice version. You may wish to try Natural Balance, too…they make a few allergy formulas, for a little less money. I have been feeding 3 large breeds and a toy breed for about $70-$80 a month on Cal. Nat. My Goldens would eat 2 to 2-1/2 cups per day, each…you’ll spend less than on EVO, but still have a good food that won’t cause issues.
Two dog foods that can help with your poor Pit might be Natural Balance and California Naturals. They have limited ingredient foods that are for dogs and cats with allergies and sensitive stomachs. Another one is Nature’s Variety. It might be out of your price range, but it has many different formulas.
one of my dogs has an allergy to wheat. i use Natural Balance wheat free food. The Natural Balance line has many different kinds of foods that each are made with different proteins or without certain products because of allergies. plus, the company (dick van patten) donates money to animal charities=)
i’ve been thinking about switching my dogs to a raw diet, though, but before you do that, research it!
You might want to look at California Natural Lamb & Rice. It is formulated for dogs with sensitive allergies. Ours has done really well on it. I’m not sure how much EVO is, but the CN is around $42 for a 30lb bag and it lasts us one month for a 100lb dog.http://www.naturapet.com/brands/californ…
wellness is good, but it gave my APBT’s such a stomach upset i had to switch off of it.
Raw is best, but don’t just feed meat- feed raw bones and internal organs too.
for kibble, i recommend Taste of the Wild- i have a dog with allergies who does great on the salmon formula.
Science Diet is overpriced garbage. Go to a pet food store and look at labels. See if you can find one without those ingredients. Try Innova, Merrick, Eagle Pack Holistic, Wellness, Natural Balance, just to name a few.
Bakers sensitive, you can get a big box from asda for just over £2…you can also give a antihistamine (human hayfever tablet) to her daily as this will help… my dog has battled food allergies for 15 years..and this really helped her x
It sounds like your dog has more than just a few allergies. In a case that severe I would certainly try raw. The limited ingredient kibbles that you could buy are pretty expensive.
VETERINARIAN…GO…ASK
Flint River Ranch makes a Lamb and Millet kibble that worked well for my dog who has food allergies.
I believe the dick van patten only has 2 ingredients.
Wellness or RAW. Start off with raw chicken breasts with bone in, skin off. Do research first.
I have used California Natural, and my dog did really, really well on it.
