They gave her rabies shot, antihistamine pills. It’s been about a week, and she has had diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy. She has been back 3 times and been treated for this with cortisone shot, flaghl etc.and is still sick! When I mentioned reaction from the rabies shot or any of the treatments, they say no it couldn’t be. I am sooo frustrated, and need a natural cure for my dog! No more poisons, or medications for my animal!

Did they tell you to change her diet? If not at least try to stop the vomiting and diarrhea. Boil some white rice, minute rice is fine. Now, boil some chicken and shred it up with your hands and mix it with the rice, nothing else for flavor. If she still has diarrhea and vomiting from this, your vet is missing something. I have had dogs all of my life and every time one gets sick with diarrhea and vomiting, every vet I have ever known has prescribed this rice and chicken. I have a Shih Tzu that I put on this diet, and he still threw up. I took him back to the vet and he had hepatitis, which required a different diet altogether. Try this diet for her. As I said, itf it does not stop her symptoms, the vet needs to look for something else. I am sorry your dog isn’t feeling well, and I do hope she feels better.

You would NOT see vomiting for days or diarrhea with a reaction to a rabies vaccination. It is more likely that your dog has something viral or bacterial going on. If it were any kind of allergic reaction the cortisone shot would have dealt with it. However, cortisone injections are contra-indicated in viral or bacterial infections because they inhibit the immune system’s response to infectious organisms.
If you have not had any labwork done, it may be time to do so. A CBC can help your vet determine if he is dealing with something viral, bacterial or allergic in nature.
You should also consider any changes made after your dog went to the vet such as a change in the brand, type or flavor of food that you feed as dogs with flea allergies are more likely to also have food allergies.
Have you tried a medicated shampoo or a fatty acid supplement (like skin oil replacement) to help your dog?
It’s definitely a possibility that your dog has had a reaction to the rabies vaccination – and it’s too bad that they said that it was not possible. I would definitely call them back after reading the info provided below (full link is at the end).
Possible rabies Vaccine side effects
The rabies vaccine is the only legally-required vaccine for companion animals in the United States. It’s administered primarily to protect humans from their pets should those pets be bitten by rabid bats, coyotes, raccoons, foxes or other animals. This is all well and good EXCEPT that the vaccine is known to cause serious side effects in cats and dogs, many of which are listed below:
Immediately or up to 3 days after the shot:
Vomiting
Facial swelling
Fever or lethargy
Circulatory shock
Loss of consciousness
Death
Days, weeks or months after the shot:
Fibrosarcoma (cancer) at the injection site
Seizures and Epilepsy
Allergies
Autoimmune diseases, including organ disease, allergies and skin problems
Chronic digestive problems
Muscle weakness, especially lack of hind end coordination
Chronic digestive disorders
Skin diseases like Ischemic Dermatopathy / Cutaneous vasculitis
Behavior problems: aggression, destructive behaviors, separation anxiety and odd obsessive behaviors (like tail chasing and paw licking). http://www.dogs4dogs.com/truth4dogs.html
I hope she feels better soon.
