If My Dog Is Allergic To Corn, Whats The Best Food For Him?

I’m trying to narrow down why my dog might be itching, biting and licking himself so much. I don’t believe it to be fleas and I’m thinking he might be alergic to the new food I bought him. What is the best food for dogs anyway? (Especially if they have allergies)

Corn free & grain free foods are best in my opinion.
Some examples: Orijen, Innova & Taste of Wilderness.
I personally feed my dogs Orijen Adult. It is, as I said, grain free & the main ingredients are meat.
It would be best to take your dog to a vet to find out the cause of the irritation and what they would recommend. If it is due to a food allergy, you could get premium dog food, or if your vet agrees, you could make up your dog’s food.
It isn’t as hard or time-consuming as it may sound… personally, I cook up a week’s worth of my dogs’ food at one time in a big saucepan, and use vegetables, homemade stock (leftover from our ‘human’ meals), pasta, rice and chicken mince (rather than red meat which makes my dogs hyper). It can be stored in containers and kept in the fridge/ freezer until it’s needed, and my dogs love it, especially compared to their supplementary dry food! It’s also very cost-effective as well as giving you control over what your dog is eating, and you can vary the ingredients to suit your dog’s tastes and dietary needs.
… I’m not a canine nutritionist though so I would recommend you get your vet’s opinion first!
All the best with your little one!
My kid was suffering for allergies just few days ago. nows he feeling great after a change of food and vet visit.
It a restricted diet so it wouldn’t be likely to cause allergies plus its really healthy for dogs. wellness is a good brand. u could try that. unless yours is allergic to fish, then u could get a different flavour one. im not advertising for e brand in case ur wondering. lol.

The following are symptoms could be caused by allergies:
Skin & Coat Conditions
Stomach Sensitivities/Disorders
Itchy Paws
Ear & Eye Secretions
Hot Spots
Also ear infections (mine had them)
From what i know, Corn, Wheat, Soy and Diary products (chicken, eggs) are usually what causes allergies.
Right now, my kid is on Wellness Whitefish*potato kibbles. Its perfect, he loves it and his coat looks better just after 6 days of feeding. I recommend you that.
Anyway what meat protein were u feeding your dog with? make sure its a different meat protein when u buy a new food. Usually its chicken e dog is allergic to. mine is probably allergic to chicken. thats the meat protein he was having when the allergies started.
other brands which are good are orijen, innova etc. look here http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_…
choose one that has 4* rating and above. but it might be a good idea not to feed one with to high protein until ur dog’s problem is stablised. probably for 2 months or so.
After he is not allergic anymore for at least 2 months, u could gradually let him have a bit of other food like chicken regularly. look out for allergies. if there is u know that he is really allergic to that. i’ve read up a bit on this allergies topic since it causes my kid problems
oh btw i nearly forget, rule out fleas first ok, before starting on allergies treatment lol.
good luck.
Edit: ok i realise that my answer is quite long, but well.. hope it helped =)
http://www.nutroproducts.com/
my dog was so itchy he scracthed off pacthes of hair
doctor said get food without corn
we use nutro from pet smart, read the ingredents label
make sure the first words are not corn
Yeah, I would involve my vet in that decision…
Also, premium types of food usually do not contain corn.
