Red Bald Spot On Dogs Tail!!!!
I would like to kno why my dog has a red bald spot on its tail. I noticed it yesterday. I also noticed before that he chased his tail a lot and used to bite like if he has fleas but he has no signs of fleas and i dont think he has mites. Im wondering if he has allergies because i changed his type of food on around saturday, im thinking its the food because a couple of days after we gave it its food it started to get diarea so i stopped feeding it this type of food and im going to take it to the vet on Saturday but i would like to kno wat is possibly has and if i should take it to the vet sooner o0o and if this helps hes a pug-zu (pug/shih-tzu)

After awhile dogs and cats living with a flea infestation will start losing their hair on the tail and on the back of their neck due to a combination of flea allergies and stress. You should purchase an effective flea treatment. I use frontline drops and a flea spray for the house and yard purchased at the vet or petmeds.com.
It could be anything, and without looking at your dog, it’s difficult to say.
There is a condition that dogs (mostly cats) get called “Stud Tail” It’s basically an over-productive oil gland at the base of the dogs tail.
Google this and see if this could be a possibility, or take your dog in to your vet for a definitive diagnosis.

Is she itching it a whole bunch?? One of my mini daschunds Charlie had a food alergy but theres useally more then one bald spot when that happens. Ask your vet for speacil shampoo when you wash him, Frontline is what my vet gave Charlie Make sure you wash their bed quite frequently too. Lamb, Beef and Chucken often are the foods that your dog is alergic too.
I would take him to the vet and see if they find anything wrong- my first thought would be full anal glands- sometimes they lick and bite at the area so much that they cause a secondary infection- called a hotspot.
That may need antibiotics to clear
its more than likely a hot spot if you change foods and it doesnt get better then its probly a hot spot if it is then you can get some stuff to put on it at the pet store
oh when it had fleas it bite it and it left a rash dont let the doggie bite it it will only get worse!
Could be a skin infection or ringworm get him checked out in case it can spread.
