Small Bumps On My Puppy’s Head, Neck And Back?
I have a 14 week-old miniature dachshund puppy and about a week ago I noticed a small (about 2mm) bump on the top of her head that almost resembled a wart. Since then, a few have appeared down her neck and onto her back, as well as one near her anus. She has been scratching moderately since I’ve brought her home and has had a bath with oatmeal and aloe vera shampoo in attempt to alleviate her itching, but to no avail.
The bumps are not red or discolored and there are no signs of hair loss. Also, I did see a flea on her the other day and will get Revolution for flea control when we visit the vet.
Could this be a sign of an allergy to flea bites? Food allergies? I have her on by nature puppy formula right now which has no wheat, corn or soy, but have been considering switching to something that doesn’t contain chicken or beef.
She has an appointment to see our vet on Tuesday, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced similar skin problems with your dogs.

It takes only one flea to drive a dog bonkers.
You’re on the right track wrt your suspicions (fleas, other parasites, allergies, etc.)
I’m glad you’re going to the vet, they’ll be able to diagnose better than we can here.
PS: Be sure to also discuss spaying your dachshund within the next 2 months while you’re at the vet’s. =)
PPS: Cool avatar!
Well the best person you can tell all this to isn’t Yahoo answerers I’m pretty sure! Go to your vet or call them if it gets worse and let them know.
But I will say it could be a sign that she is allergic to her food. Or those are bite from an insect and made little blisters she is very young she can have anything.
With out being able to see, it is hard, but I suspect you are on the right track with allergies. The other thing it could be is warts. I’m glad you’re taking her in. You can try a hot spot spray with lidocaine to help with itching temporarily.
Good luck!
possible tick infestation
I work with a lot of sled dogs and in the summer our main concern is fly control. The would get tiny bumps if a fly bit them on their body and I noticed it with my pitty just the other day when we were at the beach.
I would get some “Flies Off” or some kind of bug spray for puppies and dogs that is suitable for your dog.
Glad to hear you’re going to the vet to make sure this problem is taken care of! You’re puppy is lucky to have a responsible owner!
