Scratchy Dog?
For the past three days, my dog has been scratching his shoulder blade, thighs, and tail. I have looked him over as well as his bed to see if he has fleas but can not find any. I applied Frontline flea protection about two weeks ago and he was fine. I also bathed him, with a mild dog shampoo, a day ago thinking it was dirt in his fur. But that has not helped either.
Any ideas what is causing him to itch and ways to deal with it? Perhaps I am not correctly searching for the fleas, is it allergies, heat, how can I narrow down what is affect him.
I have a 6 month old French Mastiff.
Thanks for any advice!

If he is in the heat a lot it could be a heat rash. My dog is allergic to flea saliva… so just one flea on his skin can make him break out… You could put aloe on the areas he is scratching just try to keep him from licking it, it shouldn’t make him sick, but it won’t work if he licks it off… good luck!
Sometimes an itchy coat is due to dry or irritated skin. I would check the food you are giving him. He could be allergic to something in it. Though it can be expensive, you really should invest in a quality dog food like Nutro or Science Diet. Good Luck!
