Orange Specs In My Dog’s Fur?

So I was petting my dog Toby today, and I noticed that he had little orange specs in his fur. They look like dried skin or something, but it’s weird. It almost looks like ear wax; it’s the exact same color. He has many skin allergies but this is a new one. And he doesn’t have any fleas so it’s not like they’re eggs or anything. What could it be?

wash him thoroughly immediately,, and then see if the specs return
My dog had a bald spot under his chin last year that seemed to be really itchy. The vet said he had mites – that just happened to be orange and are passed from foxes. Where I live we can only get treatment for these from the vet.
To test if it’s flea dirts brush some onto a damp piece of white paper. If they go red that’s your dog’s blood, so treat for fleas.
Were the specs orange or rusty ? Possibly dried blood specs from a flea bite or other skin irritation. Keep some of them and show them to the vet. They will be able to identify what it is.
This is probably something you should ask your vet about. At least ask someone who can actually see what you’re talking about.
it could possibly be a fungus growing from his bad shin conditions.
take him to the vet, they will do a “scrape” to make sure his skin is ok.
