I already had her anal glands expressed two days ago and it hasn’t helped. she does not have fleas, tick or worms! she does not have any other health problems. I don’t think she has an allergies, shes been on the same food for 6 months with no problems. any other ideas?
she looks like shes really uncomfortable.

Her anal glands shouldnt be swollen if it has been 2 days but you might have them checked. I know you said she was clear of worms but i would have another fecal exam done again anyway and also look into the allergy possability. If she is on a corn based food change her to one that has no corn in it at all, that is the most common. Allergies can be a built up thing a cat i had decided to have an allergic reaction to his food dish after using it for 3yrs.
(some groomers i have been to claim to do the glands but i still end up having to do them when i get them back home)
    Good luck

sometimes its just a sore butt like the skin needs to be healed. normaly the dog wil lick it ewww but that helps

Come on, stop the madness ppl!
Your dogs anal glands need to be secreted.
Take the dog to ur vet.
That’s just a fraction of what I did when I was in the Army taking a Vet Med course.
lol Some ppl with their ideas.

since so many people said worms..id say just give her some dewormer..and then if it continues id say her rear just plain itches..and she is trying to scratch it..

  10. Roll_Tid says:

Even though her glands have been expressed, she still can have some swelling or irritation. I know this sounds weird but a vet once told me to put on a glove, wipe some amber-sol on your finger and “get in and rub it around” this will deaden the sensation to the tissue, she will stop for awhile and the swelling will go down. Good luck with that one!

usualy this happens wen they need their anal glands expressed but sometimes it continues a little while after. if she continues doing this for more than a week it could be worms. if she does it everday its worms. if not could just be an ichy bum. sometimes they dont like having fingers stuck up their buts so it could be the vet/groomer pushed a little hard. if she does it even after worm treatment take her to the vet.

    its gotta be worms………

  13. Charles says:

    scratch her butt for her.

  14. Eve D says:

Hemorrhoids? Those could make her feel itchy…

  15. poynergo says:

Maybe you need to talk to your vet about an anti itch cream for her.

  16. Joey says:

    he just has an itch

  17. Princesa Jasmine says:

How do you know they have worms.. you can’t tell just by looking at the poop .. thats only when its worse.. they come out.. if you hear like watery noises in her tummy.. or even if you don’t just give her a deworming treatment..

  18. K_C_S says:

You need to have her checked for worms soon, if she’s a long haired dog, there could be poop stuck in her fur and she’s trying to remove it.

You may also want to read Cesar’s Way to better understand why dogs do what they do.

I must concur….it sounds like worms.
Also impacted anal glands are real itchy.
Sorry she has a pain in the butt……lol…good luck.

  22. winkcat says:

seems like you have covered all the possibilities. Has she had a regular bowel movement? I guess going to the vet is the next step. Maybe her glands have an infection.

  23. *Michell says:

take her to the vet and have them look at it again

  24. Erica says:

Her butt most likely just itches

  25. peace.lo says:

    maybe he just itches.
    (:
    haha

  26. ~leaving traces~ says:

Apply a little bit of a generic antibiotic. She’s probably a little irritated. Make sure it has “Lidocaine” in it. It’s sort of a numbing agent. It won’t hurt her at all, and hopefully she won’t be trying to leave any more skid marks on your carpet.

  27. Miss.Dia says:

    Thats really weird!
But i dont think that there could be any other reason to her buttscooting then her butt being dirty.
I suggest u clean her butt after a poop break with clean dog wipes/baby wipes.
    Good luck!
