We gave her a treatment for fleas last weekend. For a day or so, this seemed to help. Now she’s itching & scrathing again. She has allergies including dust mites which we think now is the cause of her problem. We will be taking her to the vetenarian probably in a few days…when we get the time to. Meanwhile…does anybody out there now how to treat dust mites on dogs. I hate to see her suffer. Suggestions much appreciated!!

Dogs can have allergies too. Humans react by sneezing and running nose type symptoms, but a dogs histamine receptors are in their skin. Consider every scratch of an allergy itch a sneeze and you can guess how miserable they feel.
You might need to get your dog on some prednisone type antihistamine from your vet. Left un checked, your dog will scratch until it’s hair is gone and his skin is raw. Deal with it now. It’s fall and if you live in a climate where leaves are changing, then your air is filled with spores and mites, and dust and mold and moisture. Their warm skin is like a giant petri dish for allergy causing targets.
have her checked for mange
oatmeal and aloe shampoo
Gee, how lucky she is to have you for a owner. What I want to know is why you haven’t taken her to the vet before it got to this point? If you don’t have the time to care for your pet, then find her a better home. Do you even realize how much she is probably suffering?
Are you sure it’s dust mites? My dogs get to itching and digging so bad in Aug, Sept, Oct. The vet says they are seasonal allergies…same time I get my hay fever. Once you get her to the vet, I’m sure she’ll feel better. Mine always do. I feel better, too…until I have to pay the vet bill! lol (aren’t goldens great???) Good luck and I hope your dog gets to feeling better soon!
u know, there is a dog section…
well i dog did it all the time and we didnt so we got her checked.. she had an infestation of fleas .. so got to and local store like petsmart.. petland.. or a utility store and look for frontline plus!
Maybe the treatment for fleas is to harsh for her skin. You could try to shampoo her with some dog shampoo with oatmeal as a main ingredient. Good luck.
