Puppy Has Irritated Skin
I have a 4 month old Maremma X Blue Heeler and have been trying to get to the bottom of her itchy skin problem. She has been treated for fleas and does not have them. We are very dilligent with treatment. I am thinking now that she most likely has a food allergy.
the skin on her belly is very pink and quite warm. She sometimes gets very frustrated and whimpers while she scratches.
She is on pro-plan puppy dry food for large breeds and gets those logs of dog meat from the fridge section at the supermarket.
Does anyone know of any ways I can test my puppy for allergies without taking her back to the vet? He just gave her antihistamines and said I had to figure out what the possible source is…
Any ideas? I’m after knowledgable sources such as vets, vet nurses or breeders. Thank you.

She does not have any bumps on her like small pink pustules does she?
If she does it could be Dermodex, which needs to be seen and treated at a vets office. Dermodex can be managed but not cured. If she is a female she will need to be fixed because it is passed down through mothers milk. Stress is what brings in on. You never know the pups have it until they get a little bit older.
Have you tried to change her food to a different brand? If you think it is a food allergy change her brand and do not give her the log. See if that helps. You need to see if it is the log or the dry food that is doing it to her. So change one and take the other away. If it is the dry food and she starts to clear up then you can give her the log back.
hello
so what you should do is buy all the food that he has eaten since this dry skin problem and test all the food on him give him a teaspoon of each food 1 at a time and record if there is a reaction to it then if there is take him to the vet. or let me know @ swdogwalker@live.ca
well i’m not a vet or anything like that but my best friend kinda had the same problem her dog kept scratching herself and she used to have to take these pills so she wouldn’t itch anymore so idk maybe you could get some kind of pill so she won’t itch anymore
