Looking For A Dog Food For Allergenic Dogs?

My dogs are allergenic. licking paws , biting, scratching… one of them is getting worse. I feed them “Canidae All Life Stages Dry Dog Food” for about 3 months. They love it. But her itching seems to get worse… I don’t want to give them a medicine for allergy. In stead of using medicines, I want to change their constitutions. It is hard for me to find out the causes of their allergy. So, at least I want them to get stronger constitutions. If someone knows about a good dog food for allergenic dogs, please give me informations.

My older dog has allergies and I am going to try just fish with no grain to see if this helps.

Oh yes. My father in law passed away and we got his dog. LOL well anyways she was losing her hair and was digging all the time until she was covered in sores. I took her to the vet and they told me they thought she had allergies so we forked out 300.00 and had her tested. Oh yeah like 200 things, from grasses to dead human skin. It was insane. We had to give her an Rx dog food that smelled awful she lost like 20 pounds because she hated it so much. But I broke down and paid the 300.00 for shots and she has been on them about two weeks now. Her hair is coming in and she doesn’t dig anymore.
I am not telling you that you have to spend 600.00 on you dog. However the way I feel about animals is like most feel about kids. I wouldn’t let my child suffer and my pets are my children.
Here is what I would try:
Stay away from cheap dog food
Almost all have wheat or corn as the first ingredient a lot of animals are allergic to them.
Start a notebook of what your dog does each day. Mainly when signs of allergies start. This maybe scratching the hind quarters or biting at them self. If the dog has been outside then get some cedar shavings (they are Cheap) put these around the bedding area or in the pen. Cedar not only is very rare for dog to be allergic to it also has a smell that fleas and ticks hate and won’t stick around for long.
If you find this happens when the dog does a certain thing then keep it from that area or that food.
good luck
