When my vet said my dog had flea allergies, she also said that he had a yeast infection, though didn’t help me out much with what to give him. She just said antifungal meds.. Is there any kind of human pills that can help, and maybe shampoo? I’ve read that there are certain things that help, but I’ve only been able to find it in a brand of dandruff shampoo. I can’t use creams because he’s got it damn near all over his body. So, any one got some suggestions for shampoo and oral medications? I know of one little ’set’ I can buy online, but I can’t afford that.

My 2 yr old Lhasa, Bree, was put on prednisone about 3-4 weeks ago for a flea allergy. Her behavior has changed suddenly and she doesn’t seem to be acting right. What are the side effects of this medication? Long and short term. Should I take her to the vet to get checked out or wait until her medication is finished?

he weighs 50lbs and it says double the dosage during summer – that equals 20 pills a day! will it help him stop itching? He has no fleas – no hot spots – no allergies that we know of

My dog is a female year and a half chocolate lab/springer spaniel mix. She has been eating purina just like our other dog, both with no problems. About 5 weeks ago, she started rolling on her back in the poop around the yard. We just thought it was a bad habit from leaving her outside too long. Maybe it is. We had to bathe her 3 seperate times, mostly just around the neck. We used a gentel, natural shampoo on the area. We have been vigilant about cleaning up after the dogs and that habit has seemed to stop. Good.
Perhaps unrelated, 3 weeks ago she started scratching like crazy. And scratching. And scratching. And chewing on her feet. We didn’t see any signs of fleas, mites, bugs; no red marks, no flakiness. No signs other than itching. Her energy was also down, but she has been staying awake at night to scratch when she normally sleeps.
A week ago we started feeding her plain rice and ground lamb in the hopes it was perhaps a food allergy. It seemed to help after a few days, but now today I see in between her toes is a little red (caught her licking.)
Could this be pollen allergies? Does this sound like a food allergy? I will take her to the vet in another week when I get paid, but am concerned about now that she is red between the toes.
She has a fenced in yard in a city with grass, trees and flowers; we live in Northern MN.
