I’ve had a Border collie for a year and a half now. She has always itched and chewed her fur off in some spots. She has never had fleas. I use monthly frontline and keep my house flea free at all times. I came to the conclusion that she has food allergies so I switched her to Wellness Simple Solutions Hypo allergenic dog food. She was doing better but never goes without a patch of chewed off fur somewhere on her body. Well, I got a second dog about 6 weeks ago. He is now doing the same thing. I thought that it’s got to be an environmental allergy , like something in the water, my laundry detergent (they both sleep on the bed), or something in the grass in the park they run in. But then I was wondering what are the chances of them both being allergic to the same thing? It’s nearly impossible isn’t it?? Now I’m thinking, what if my first dog came to me with some sort of mite that has been making her itch this whole time? Does any one know anything about mites?

My dog (a beagle) has a red belly alot of the time .He bites his paws and belly and scratches his under muzzle to where they bleed and now i think he is biting right through his ears or something cause they are scabbing over-( the ears could be infected because we have to clean his ears out every week but i don’t know alot about that either. we give him all Natural food called canidae and the only other thing we feed him is beef hot dogs. we have also been trying this thing called natural homeopathic remedy-hot spots-its for dogs. and when we give him baths with dog shampoo it seems ti make it worse. he doesn’t have fleas and he doesn’t stay long out side either and that’s the only place he goes besides his 30 min walk around my neighborhood
what do you think it could have ? we cant afford that thing that tells us what exactly what he is allergic to.
what could we do to help him ? thank you

I have a German Shepherd and she won’t stop shedding. She’s about 6 yrs. old, and an active dog. She has arthritis in her hips so she can’t/hasn’t had pups.
I know that its somewhat normal for dogs to shed, but lately she’s been losing chunks of hair at a time. It seems as if it started after I gave her a bath with a new kind of shampoo: “Perfect Coat Black Pearl Shampoo & Conditioner” we had never used before.
She also bites her paws, and leaves them raw, cries and scratches her ears, and scrapes her nose on the floor like its itchy. She has red irritated areas on her skin, that almost looks like a rash. Could she have fleas or allergies?
I just bought new shampoo called. “Pro-Pet select dog shampoo Shed Control” I gave her a bath with it yesterday and I’m not really noticing much of a difference..i know it will take more than a day for much to happen. I also bought a supplement from Target, “Pro-Pet Adult Daily Vitamin.”
I’m not old enough to drive so I keep telling my parents to take her to the vet but they don’t think its necessary yet. I really want to help my dog so she can just play and not have to worry about something bothering her. Anybody who can help, please answer back with all you have.
