We use Advantage Flea Control, and we have done treatment inside the house, there are no fleas, but here is is November, and my poor dog is still itching and scratching and chewing himself silly. Every so often I can feel bumps on his skin under his coat, but not there are no scabs. He has always been an itchy dog, but it has always been seasonal. I know to use Oatmeal Shampoo, and to give him raw eggs/veggie oil in his food, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Aside from taking him to get allergy testing ($$$) anything else you’d recommend? Thanks

i dont think its allergies cuz iv never had a allergy problem before and im 17..they could be fleas i guess since i have a dog and cat and they both get on our bed n stuff…but we do use Frontline(flea/tick treatment) on both…but anyway my main question is what can i do to stop the itch?

After many trips to the vet, my family has ruled out fleas and other insects, switched food with no change in his condition, and generally eliminated the basic causes. My dog is 10 and has never had noticeable allergies, nervous habits, or medical issues.
He scratches and licks himself constantly and his skin is pink all over. He has scabs on his elbows from scratching. We’ve tried gauze pads, vet wraps, athletic tape, everything to prevent him from scratching them more, but they just end up coming off. We gave him special baths with oatmeal, but it isn’t feasible to bathe him every day. We got him dog beds for every room so he never has to sleep on the hard floor. Now I noticed he’s losing the hair on his seat bone from shifting his weight to scratch.
Has your dog had a similar problem? How did you help him? What could be causing this?

My beautiful GSD has been itching and scratching herself raw on her belly and hind legs. She has lost a lot of fur and the skin underneath is red. We have seen the vet but he was no help, he said it was an infection and the heat has made it worse. We give her Revolution for flea control, she’s had 2 courses of antibiotics, steroid injections, and medicated dog shampoo baths, but nothing has really helped. She may be allergic to something, and I want to change her diet, but don’t know what is best to feed her. I don’t have the time to home cook meals for her. We are in Australia. Any ideas???

So I was petting my dog Toby today, and I noticed that he had little orange specs in his fur. They look like dried skin or something, but it’s weird. It almost looks like ear wax; it’s the exact same color. He has many skin allergies but this is a new one. And he doesn’t have any fleas so it’s not like they’re eggs or anything. What could it be?
