Well, our family dog is suffering from this weird skin allergy. She’s loosing hair from her upper chest then now through her neck and back of the neck. She’s around 7 or 8 years old. Also her piss oftenly has blood(menstruation?) for like 3-5 days straight and it stinks so much. I pity our dog. She loves my bed and I don’t why is she attracted to a scooby doo pillow on my bed(oh yes, she loves to HUMP it. weird though she’s a girl) well anyway I really pity our dog. She’s already taking special dog food for skin allergies. How can this allergy be stopped. She’s like slitting her neck off when she scratches(well she does wound herself because of that) EMO DOG. wth. I really pity her. anyone who has a dog with this kind of sickness? what to do? I live in the philippines, I don’t know any good reliable vet around here. Mosts vets here are like fake vets, they prescribe drugs then nothing happens. Anyway my shih tzu is pure.
anyway, she pisses blood 3-5days straight then she suddenly stops pissing blood for a week or more then pisses with blood again for 3-5days. Well I will try to look for a good vet but if anyone knows a good vet here in my country please tell me

I have a husky cross who is itching like mad, when I pet him his skin will twitch and he will start trying to scratch with his rear paw. Now I’ve checked for fleas (my other dog doesn’t have any and both are on flea meds) I was thinking maybe a skin condition since he has had allergies in the past but I cant see anything.
He is also shedding alot and is producing alot of dander.

I have two 6 month old West Highland Terriers. Both are from the same litter. I noticed last week one of them started itching and she has a tiny patches of hair missing legs.
Now her sister has joined in on the fun! Same condition. These aren’t my first dogs so I am aware that there is the possibility of skin problems.
Their dog food is all natural with no corn, soy, etc. The spots are just hair loss – no “hot spots” or crusty lesions. We live in New England and it is dry & cold right out so I was thinking it wasnt allergies to food. We wash them every month or so – brush them and powder them as you should do with a Westie.
Yesterday I noticed that their poop looks like they ate a vaccuum cleaner bag. It is FULL of hair, which I am guessing is theirs from licking and biting the area.
So what else could be causing this? I am stopping by my vet to pick up an elizabethan collar tonight. Is this hairy poop ok? Can it cause problems? This scratching is making me nuts!
HA HA Montgomery! That would give us a visual representation of $hit Head! Thanks for the new money making idea!
No fleas – Yuck! I know what those look like!
We live in the city so there are no wild animals (except my boyfriend, he he) Maybe it is a grass or “fragrance” allergy?

My Vet has prescibed predisone 25 mg for 52 lb. dog. To be taken periodically for what we think is an allergy. Vet said to give dog break from meds, then resume in a month or so. It takes about 6 weeks for the dog to develop symtoms again. Tresaderm is prescribed for the ears. I also use a preventitive ear Flush.
He eats Maximum Nutrition Lamb and Rice for adult dogs, 2 to 3 cups a day. He is somewhat lethargic now, could be due to the time of year – winter – which means we don’t go out on as long of a walk as in summer. But the licking has caused his hair to be brown on paws. I am told this is due to an ensyme in the saliva. He is white and liver and tan normally. When he is allowed to run free outdoors he will eat duck, horse and chicken droppings and eggs from our free range poultry. He will go after and eat toads, squirrels and anything he finds. Now it is winter, so those “treats” are not available to him. So tell me; Is he lacking something in his diet?

My Rat Terrier is always itchy, we’ve tried every type of food, she gets lots of exercise, we’ve treated her for demodex mange and ringworm thinking that might be the problem but didn’t help. I give her her flea and tick stuff every month. She scratches under her armpits, her chin, her eyes and she drags her belly across the carpet. These symptoms, I’ve read, are characteristic of allergies and not parasites… She’s not in terrible shape or anything but I can tell the itchyness makes her depressed and lazy. Are there any Rat Terrier owners out there with similar problems? At this point I’m thinking of putting her on a daily anti-allergy medicine, I don’t want to be giving her benadryl every day. Is there a dog equivalent of something non-drowsy like claritin that I can give her every day, that way I can ask the vet about it when I take her in for her rabies shot. I don’t have the money for allergy tests, plus like I said we’ve tried all different kinds of food with no improvement. Please, no smart aleck or holier than thou posts, I take good care of my dog.
Thanks!
Sorry If I sound like a jerk, any ideas are welcome I just don’t want answers like “you shouldn’t have a dog if you can’t afford the allergy tests, you are a horrible person”… thanks in advance to anyone with any ideas!!!
BTW right now I am feeding her Evangers Beef Dinner w/ Chunks canned dog food.
