Can steroids cause skin allergies in dogs?

My dog was placed on steroids(Prednisone) for her skin rashes. After 1 month of use, it’s worst than before. She has started to get brown crusty patches all along her back, and a wart on her back.

Is it possible for steroids to cause skin allergies/ rash to become worst?

She is a 14 year old poodle/chi/maltese mix.

I recently adopted a maltese who scratches non-stop due to skin allergies. Lately, I have began to get serious itching like him and it gets worse at night. I noticed that I get each bout of skin itch everytime after I carry him. Sometimes I will wake up with a new bout of itch when he scratches himself in the morning. My itch will last for a week or more. My rashes are quite bad and it spreads to different parts of my legs, thighs and arms.

Is it possible that I am allergic to my dog? I have brought my dog to the vet and he says that my dog does not have fleas or mites. My dog is on Frontline too.

Hi there,
I need some help choosing a food for my two senior dogs who have two different issues. One has a pancreatic enzyme deficiency which requires her to be on food which is low in fat and easily digestible. Right now she is on HIlls ID and it is perfect for her but I believe my other dog might be developing typical food allergies (he gets a lot of hots spots and skin infections) so i would like to feed him something that would be more of a hypoallergenic food. I have tried Wellness Simple Solutions but I think that was too rich for the one that has stomach issues. So I basically need a hypoallergenic food that is low fat and might be ok for both these dogs! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

What is the main cause of skin allergies in dogs?

My dog has skin allergies, and I’m not sure what causes it. We give her omega 3s, and benydryl, and that seems to help. I’m just wondering what causes it and it’s year round too.
She shouldn’t have food alllergies, because of the fact she eats Science Diet because she used to have kidney stones, and it’s been five years that she’s been on that, and this just started in May i think.

Is Wellness Dog food good for dogs with allergies?

I need to change my dogs food. He is currently on Nutro Puppy Bites but he takes huge poops which makes me wonder if he is even digesting most of that stuff. I am feeding the new puppies the same thing and they also have large poops. The bag claims to give smaller poos. I have tried Solid gold and Science diet in the past and did not agree with his stomach. Is Wellness puppy food a good next choice?
