see a vet, the only person that can really tell you what to do

Question by sunny_happy_daisy: There is a small but growing bump on my dogs back any idea what it is?
Normally I would take her to the vet but we are extremely short on money and in the process if moving someplace cheaper. I just simple do not have any extra money, every dollar we have and are making for the next 2 months already being used.

It is a pink raised bump, sort of looks like a mole but pink, it is perfectly round and smooth. Fur grows all around it but not on the bump. When it first appeared several months ago it was very tiny, I thought it was a bug bit or a pimple and ignored it. It has been slowly growing and is now around half and inch. It does not seem to hurt or bother her in anyway, in fact I don’t think she knows it is there. Even when you touch it she it does not bother her. The bump does not connect down under the skin to anything, if that makes sense. She has had problems with the skin on her back when she was a puppy due to food allergies. However he found a food that has resolved the previous skin issues.

I know that no one can diagnose her from this description. What I need to know is if it is going to be ok waiting a few more months while we get back on our feet to get her into a vet or if I need to go to a local shelter and beg them to see my dog. Considering she is acting perfectly normal that seems a little bit dramatic.
She is a grey mini schnauzer only about 2 years old.

From what you say I think you can wait. If it gives her pain I’d go to a vet.

Q&A: Itchy scabs all over dogs skin?

Question by Ally: Itchy scabs all over dogs skin?
Its my parents dog and I don’t see her as often as I would like. For a while now she’s had a spot on her side that has itched her, but it wasn’t really discolored but it kept scabbing over, we though it was because she was scratching at it and it lost the hair because of the scabbing. They were putting neosporin on it and a bandage. Over the past week/week and a half its gotten a lot worse and spread all over the rest of her body. She has a vet appointment, but does anyone else know what this might be and what might be causing it? She’s an almost 15 year old Bichon. Only thing she’s had in the past were food allergies which she’s on natural balance duck and potato for.

Pics when bathing her:

Since people are restating vet I’ll be more clear, vet appointment is tomorrow afternoon. We already had the appointment before I posted

There’s no telling what it could be.
It could be mange or some other skin parasite or bacteria.
A trip to the vet is a good idea and should happen ASAP.

Any problems raising a rabbit in an apartment?

Question by Lance: Any problems raising a rabbit in an apartment?
I’m thinking of getting a rabbit for a 4-year old? Any problems with possible allergies, such as skin irritation or asthma? How often would the cage and apartment need to be cleaned? Do rabbits need to be bathed? Do they need to be taken outside like dogs or can they be raised strictly at home (in an apartment)? One last item: if the family goes away for the weekend, can we just leave food out for the rabbit for three days?

What good is holistic food if the dog won’t eat it?

Question by Madison: What good is holistic food if the dog won’t eat it?
Everyone on here tells me to feed my dog Blue Buffalo or Natural Balance or foods in that category, but my dogs don’t like them! They do, however, love the Royal Canin or the Nutro Max. What good is feeding my dog the “best” food if they don’t like it? I mean, I don’t see anything wrong with feeding Royal Canin or Nutro. My dogs don’t have any allergies and they are very healthy. All the “best” foods have fruits and veggies in them, but do they really need all that? Dogs in the wild just ate meat! My vet says to feed my dogs whatever they enjoy. Does anyone here agree? After all, pet food companies have spent years of research formulating their foods so how can they be as bad as people on here are saying they are??

They have to eventually eat it, they won’t starve.
I like chips and candy, does that mean I’ll eat it over a real dinner?

Dogs in the wild eat meat, yes but there is no “real” meat in commercial brand if you don’t count chicken beaks and euthanized dogs.

Why are you trying to convince us? It’s your vet who is wrong and if you are convinced go ahead and feed them junk….
