My dog has issues…she is a shitzu, she has always been house broken, she is 11 years old, allergy to beef protein, has terrible skin allerigies. I’ve taken her to the vet…no kidney problems or bladder issues, he can’t pin point why she is behaving badly…schedules haven’t changed. She turns circles in corners of rooms then will just walk away, she has also started urinating repeatedly on our carpet in several areas (we’ve had these areas professionally treated, several times), she does this when we are home right in front of us and when we are not home (can’t crate her, she tries to dig herself out, ending with very bloddy paws). We’ve tried axiety meds…everything. If we try to pick her up she bites us…actually will bring blood (we have to pick her up with a towel) and on top of all this (actually too many issues to list) she stinks! We give her a bath and within an hour…she stinks…horribly! Even our guest will comment on her smell! Anyone have any idea what could be up with her?

The dog might just be under a lot of stress, or she could be nervous and scared. Try to be gentle with her, and don’t make quick movements toward her.

I recently moved in with my boy friend he has a dog which i love (bull terrier) but i’m extremely allergic to him i get bumps on my skin (rash) my eyes become little puffy and watery and i sneeze out of control. I assume the sneezing is not good for the baby due to the pressure i do while sneezing. well we have talked about it and his not willing to give up his dog so another question is can i talk allergy medicine for animals?

(5 months preggo!!!!) its a girl!!!!

sneezing wont hurt your baby. call your doctor office to ask what allergy meds you can take while pregnant. the only one i can remember is benadryl

My yellow lab is constantly getting yeast ear infections and also yeast skin infections. She is allergic to yeast, found in an intradermal skin test. She has been getting allergy shots for years, antihistamines, prednisone, baths, ear cleaning, ear drops, etc. The dermatologist just told me to try and get her as dry as possible after baths or swimming to try and avoid the yeast growing. I don’t think she would allow bow drying because of the noise – she is terrified of vacuum cleansers. I towel her off – but was wondering if any one had any more ideas? Very itchy dog.
She is 8 and just had a complete blood count, blood chemistry profile, and a thyroid check. It is done every year by either my vet or the dermatologist. Blood work 100% normal, including her thyroid levels.

do condition training until shems use to the blow dryer. Talk to a trainer about the best way to do this with your dog.

My dog had a rash near his testicles. So we took him to the vet. They applied betadine with some other solution. Later tonight it went bad…. Seems it gave him a very bad itch on the entire place. residual betadine on skin caused itching and also made him wanting to vomit if in case he licked and scratched himself. So bad that he was panting restlessly went crazy and couldn’t rest a moment. It was going bad so we called nearby vet and he said it’s just betadine that he licked made him restless.
Now we washed his skin anyway with his shampoo. Isn’t there a home remedy for getting rid of allergy and soothing the skin?
Chihuahua of three years.
Isn’t benadryl for cough?

Do you have any Cortisone or Benadryl lotion? A benadryl tablet may calm him down too.

Help, my dog has hives!?

Earlier this week, dog came down with hives on her head, swelling of the skin on her neck (she almost looks like a turkey with the droopy skin) and constant licking on her front legs (armpit area). We took her to the emergeny vet and he gave her a shot of steroids and benadryl. It went away for a couple of days, and now its back. I’ve been giving her doses of benadryl (seems to help a little).

I’m in the process of moving (which i think is the only change surrounding her). Also, if I changed her food (about 5 weeks ago, could this be a problem too). Is it dust mites, or a food allergy. Where do I even start to begin looking to find out what her problem is? Has anyone ever experienced this?
Thank you for the responses. I’m hoping that after the move, things will settle down. I’m going to go to petsmart and buy some different dog food and the shampoo that was suggested.

It could be stress, dust or the new food.

Change back to the old food and see whether that helps. The familiarity of the food should also help calm her down, which will reduce the stress in general.
