our 7 year old dog has excessively dry and scabby skin (vet said its not mange) and ear infection (vet said to use vinegar even though he did not do a culture). we are pretty sad and would like to do anything we can to correct it. our vet is kinda maybe too holestic & money hungry for us. lol. we are probably switching vets and switching foods.
so, our doggy would of course love your help. we’ve seen dogfoodanalysis.com
1.) i was always pretty sure that when shopping for dog food, you should always select a type that indicates meat as the 1st ingerdient. so, what is meant by “deboned” meat or meat “meal”??? would that not be as good as just the named meat product instead?
i am trying to pick among conidae, orijen, wellness core, and innova….but some feature deboned and meal as the first ingredients and some feature fresh meat or just the named meat and it’s all pretty confusing. help.
2.) raw diet? could this be better? suggestions? sounds expensive but possibly healthier

Advice On Dog Food For My Labs?

I work at a privately owned pet store that specializes in pet nutrition (dog food, allergies, supplements..ect..) so I feel a little stupid asking this question but I need some advice in case there’s something that I haven’t tried. I have two lab mix dogs, one 7 months and one a year old. They always seem to have loose stool all the time. I had them on Innova Evo…that was no good. Then I went to Eukanuba and it wasn’t as loose, but just massive amounts all the time. Then I went to Orijen…same thing. Now I am on Eagle. They did okay for awhile and now they are back to the same thing. I have taken them on off chicken, then lamb, then beef..still same thing. My oldest dog is on Duck and Potato and still he has diarreah. And they were on each food for a significant period of time, a good couple months, so its not the switching of the food. And the treats they get are wheat and chicken free. Any advice?
