Question by Love’s Excelling Way: Anyone’s dog on the Honest Kitchen food? Wondering if it’s healthy enough? Also is it tasty for the dog?
My little monkey is sooo picky! He only likes one kibble. And he eats it in the evening when he’s hungry. It’s Orijen. He will only eat the one kind, not the fish one. I have tried him on RAW, he doesn’t like it, Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Halo. All kinds and he won’t eat any other kibble but Orijen. But I know that his breed is prone to allergies and feeding the one kind forever is not good. So I wanted to try The Honest Kitchen. Wondering if anyone feeds it to their dogs and if it’s healthy enough. www.thehonestkitchen.com

Thank you so much for your help if you can answer!
Lol. that was a funny answer Dogzzz. You may be right. I checked out that website. But I still do want to make sure he gets the best food possible. He’s a cute little monkey and I love him!

I’m sure it is healthy enough for him/her. You MUST be careful of a dog’s allergies. Give him plain yogurt, sounds weird but it helps their digestive system and keeps their ears clean from yeast infections!!! I have this to my dog all the time he loved it. Every night at 8. Also, they’re not allergic to it.
It’s not that the dog doesn’t like something, it’s most likely because they know their stomach simply cannot handle it. This is true for most dogs unless they’re curious haha. Oh puppies =]
Oh and many dogs are allergic to corn and grains….doesn’t help many dog foods are made out of this.
A simple meal you can make anytime for your puppy is rice and hamburger. Don’t mix anything else unless they’re puppy vitamins. Your dog will be able to get nutrients from this.

Question by Poodles4ever: dog and allergy testing question also can black mold permantly affect the respirtory system? What now?
Okay our poodle went to the doctor yesterday for his allergies and she put him on an antihistimine for his allergies to see if it helps (we are going to be trying this one and she said if it doesn’t work there are others we can try but this one won’t make him drowsy and he gets drowsy even with a low dose of benedryl) She also gave him a spray for his feet to prevent them from itching so he doesn’t scratch them or bite them and get an infection. (We think grass is his main allergy)
But normally he doesn’t scratch at himself that was just a precaution.

He is not allowed outdoors on any day they cut the grass in our complex so twice a week, she said he can still go out on the patio and use the potty pad so he doesn’t get out of habit of going outside. And fall and winter he should be able to go out whenever he wants (just put a jacket on him so he doesn’t freeze, that way he still gets to play outside is his favorite place to be)

Also we don’t think he has any food allergies just inhalent allergies (aka seasonal allergies) because he has trouble breathing outdoors after the grass is cut.
The big allergy is fresh cut grass.

Now plan b is if we don’t see significant improvement she recommends Alergy testing but she wants that to be an option later down the road.

Now if we have to go that route tell me is it painful (like when people have it done is it the same kind of procedure)? Is it too terribly expensive? (not a big deal but I would like to put some money away if it is just incase we need to do it)

Also his breathing (off topic a bit) in the apartment we were living before around the time we moved out we discovered black mold (I went to the doctor several times with breathing problems and we couldn’t pinpoint why) we don’t know how long the mold was there but our poodle lived in that apartment from age 9 weeks until 11 months could that have caused significant damage to his respiratory system? I am curious I feel so bad we didn’t catch that if that is the case. She isn’t too concerned about his breathing right now but I hope that didn’t trigger the problem. He seems fine in those regards but we are to watch him.

they said allergy shots are part of plan b

2 yrs ago, our dachshund started having problems. She was scratching herself raw and bald. Most of her hair was gone. We took her to the vet numerous times, as we were quite concerned. She used to be so playful, and now all she’d do was sleep and scratch. The vet couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her, other than must be an allergy. He prescribed, benedryl and selsun blue. Neither helped. We couldn’t figure out what to do to help her.

Last year we moved, when we did, we noticed all this nasty black mold growing in every room of the house. Within a month of being moved, our dachshund quit scratching, and her hair started to grow back. She became her playful old self again. Also, my husband and I are also feeling better, we didn’t notice how it was affecting us until after we got out and started feeling better.

WooWoo (our dachshund) seems to have no lasting ill effects from the black mold, hopefully your poodle won’t either. That black mold is some nasty dangerous stuff. I’m glad y’all were able to get away from it.

Question by Meredith24: 4 mo. old lab/collie mix constantly chewing/licking self – allergies? Bug bites? Also, chew proof dog beds?
I have a 4 month old lab/collie mix puppy. He has been licking and chewing on his skin (and paws) constantly (he has to stop in the middle of walking/playing often). I switched his food from Puppy Chow to ProPac two weeks ago (I was told that the ProPac was much better, corn is not the #1 ingredient), and also bathed him with a soothing shampoo. It has only gotten worse, if anything. We have lots of mosquitos in the area, but it seems doubtful they could penetrate his fur, or can they? Pretty sure his fleas are all gone (Frontline). Could he be allergic to the fabric softener on his dog bedding? I am at a loss, I feel bad for him! Also, he licks the area where he was neutered often. What does that mean? One more thing: he has chewed every dog bedding we put in his crate: beds, sheets, towels… Can anyone recommend a bed that is chewproof but cheaper than Orvis ToughChew? Thanks everyone!

i heard of this before on animal planet, it’s not fleas, or mosquitoes, it was something different, ask your vet about it.

Question by Roxi: Treating My Dogs for Sarcoptic Mange Can I also Treat My cats?
Hi There Again,
Here I have yet another question…
I have been treating my dogs for Sarcoptic Mange after my Maltese began loosing his fur…Long story short he was being treated for allergies bu my vet since october, I got a second opinion from another vet after I realized my other dogs were scratching, they found scabei (mites) in the skin scrape now I am treating all my dogs.
The meds and dip have been working great and my dogs look so much healthier and happier especially my old boy who lost most of his fur beacuse of all this. I herd it can pass to my rabbits and cats…:( My rabbits have no contact with my dogs so Im not that worried about them, but my cats walk about the yard, they dont come in direct contact but I just want to know if I could use the same dip which is called DEMADEX (I have put it on the link below) and its to treat Sarcoptic and Demratric Mange plus some other things in dogs. Can I dilute it in a spray bottle and spray it on my cats? I have two and Turkish Angora who loves pleaying with water and my Siamese who hates it! So my question is can I use the dogs formula which is the DEMADEX Rinse put it in a spray bottle and spray it on my cats? Revolution doesn’t control Mange on cats just dogs. I am using Advocate which the vet recommended as it also controls mange.
Please let my know if I cant what else can I do? Can I make a home mix myself??
What about Malaban? Could I use that? Its simular to Demadex although Demadex is more thorough.
Thanks Everyone I would greatly appreciate anything :)
I cannot wait till the day all this is over…I have owned dogs all my life and have never had anything like this before :(

What I am Using Now

http://dstore.com.au/pets/Demadex-Wash-50ml/1084662.html

Malaban

http://www.thevetshed.com.au/product_info.php/products_id/1370

If it helps my dogs are all under the 5kg mark so I dilute 5mls of Demadex to 1 liter of water according to my vet.

Thanks again!!!
