Ok, so I am a professional dog bather in a pet salon. I like my job, but am getting sick from the disinfectants used there. The other day I could barely breathe. My boss sprays blade disinfectant all over everything, not just blades (leashes, tables, brushes) We use lemonquat, which is a cleaner, and my skin has reactions to it. I am always in contact with it. The Material Safety Data Sheet says not to get it on your skin, but I always do, and it says its a servere health hazard. My eyes always hurt and itch, my skin hurts from the chemicals and shampoos used on the dogs. My throat closes up when the blade wash is sprayed. The lemonquat makes my throat burn and hurt. I had to drink frozen drinks the other night, only too soothe my throat. One day a girl in back was disinfecting hoses and a customer up front was coughing because the fumes were so bad! I can’t go to the doc because I don’t have insurance, and I can’t quit because I need to afford to live. Been looking for something else, but haven’t found anything yet. I don’t WANT to be jobless or not work, but I can’t handle this. My boss knows it bothers me but doesn’t try to spray less. It bothers another girl I work with. I am not complaining, I am just sensitive to this stuff and have had allergies and asthma in the past. I just don’t know what I can do legally. Is there anything? Anyone ever been in a similar situation? I need to leave this job, but I need an income!! I am concerned for my health. I don’t want to end up with a respiratory problem and be fucked for good!

try using a mask like the dentists use it should help or a gas mask if you wanna look really cool

i was wondering is it possible to sue someone in a case that is about three years old? here’s how the story goes. it has been about three years since my pit-bull terrier died.
before she died i took her to the vet because she had red patches
all over her body the vet told me it was just a food allergy, so i they gave
me some medicine for it. they charged me about 25 dollars just
to scrape a razor blade on her stomach then they charged me about 30
dollars for the medicine overall coming up to about 80 dollars… no that’s
the bad part here i am thinking my dog is going to be OK after i change her food
and give her the medicine.. i leave for a couple of days and come home to find
out she is a lot worse then the first time i took her. my poor puppy is about to die… she was so weak she could not greet me when i went out there to see her she could not even wag her tail. she just laid there, she was kind of skinny, could not keep her food down, diarrhea and vomit almost everywhere in her pen. now i could not take her back to the vet because i spent all of my money taking her there the first time… the next few days was complete torture i couldn’t even eat because i knew i was going to lose my best friend. i was waiting on the worst day to come i was waiting for someone to tell me she finally died. i did not know what was wrong with her until my cousin told me it was whatever parvovirus is. i looked it up she had all the symptoms. the vets told me it was a food allergy. i lost a beautiful,sweet.lovable dog because of the wrong info. i told them what happen they didn’t even give me my money back all they said was I’m sorry. I’m sorry is not going to bring her back. it’s not going to heal the torture I’ve been through to see her in that horrid condition or the suffering she went through.

firstly it happened 3 years ago and secondly you should have taken her back to the vet when she got worse, you should not get a pet if you can not afford to take them to the vet when they are ill.

My dog was diagnosed with Pancreatitis yesterday… rough. But anyway she is doing *much* better. But I’ve noticed she is shedding EXCESSIVELY. She is a lab, so I know that labs shed a ton. She used to shed a lot, but we started her on a better food and she stopped shedding buckets. Now she sheds moderately. She is allergic to pollen, so whenever she would have an allergic reaction she would shed *buckets*… her hair would basically fall out! But since her allergies are gone and it’s no longer pollen season, her shedding is low. But recently, in the past 3 days, she has been shedding a TON!? Why? She hasn’t had an allergic reaction, and she is still on her healthy dog food. I was wondering if a dog could start excessively shedding if they are sick. She has Pancreatitis, which means she was dehydrated and she had a fever… she was also really stressed. Did the stress cause it?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks barefoottrimmer! She is getting much better, and I just figured her shedding was a side effect. The vet said she will call today so I will ask her then. Thanks!

This can be common with illnesses/diseases. The immune system is compromised and the dog’s system is struggling to heal and survive. Excessive hair loss is a common side effect. You could mention it to the vet, however. Hope she continues to improve.

Can the NAVY kick you out because of food allergies?

My husband is a Petty Officer in the Navy and we just found out he’s allergic to nuts, celery, dogs, carrots, and mold. The doctor on ship said that he can no longer eat on ship because of his allergies and that they would have to pay him to eat off ship, but if they ever deploy he cannot eat on ship for months.

Could they kick him out for having food allergies?
Or do you think they’ll put him on shore command?

Could Frontline Not Work Because My Dog Has A Skin Problem?

I ask because I use front line on dog and put it on correctly but poor thing still gets fleas fairly bad, my cat however isn’t on anything and doesn’t get them at all. Even after ill get fleas off of dog and he will be free for a week or so he still will scratch and be up all night. Could allergies or skin problem make fleas worse?
He’s a 6 yr old poodle
