I have a Husky/Lab and I noticed yesterday that she had some bumps on her skin. I figured that she just got tangled up with a bunch of ant or something of that nature. This morning those bumps turned into little bloody sores. She wants to lick them, but other than that she doesn’t seem that bothered. I shaved the fur from around all of the spots to see them better.

There are about 10 on her (or at least the ones I found) and they are all over her. On her back, under her tail, on her legs, on her belly…just everywhere. She hasn’t had anything new as far as food or treats, and she has never had any known allergies in the past, perfectly healthy 1 1/2 year old dog. Any ideas will help, thank you!
I won’t go to the vet unless her life is in danger. The vet will onlly perscribe benadryl or a cortisone shot, and probably antibiotics that will just drag down her immune system. Im applying Newton’s homeopathics skin relief on it and it seems to help her itching
I just dropped $ 500 on an allergy test for my other dog, and I love my vet but I am not rich. I took her to a friend who is a vet tech and she said they look more like ant bites. If they don’t clear up in a week I will take her to my vet. I highly doubt there are any allergies just because nothing in her food/treats/environment has changed and she hasn’t ever showed any signs before, which is the exact opposite of my other dog who is allergic to just about everything.

I have these little red, hive/pimple looking things all over my chest and mostly upper back. I do get them in my hair and on my face, neck, and chin at times, and even sometimes on my arms. I had a biopsy done and my dermatologist said that they said it was identical to an insect bite. Half of the time they look almost like mosquito bites when appearing. Big white bumps that eventually turn red. We are having an exterminator looking for bed bugs now, but there seems to be no hard evidence. are there any other types of insects that could be causing this (ex: scabies)? Or i wonder if is actually a food allergy? If I had a food allergy, would it be possible that I did not break out everywhere in hives/bumps? I have had these symptoms for about 9 months. In the beginning it wasn’t so severe. It grew worse with time. I also have a dog and will be getting her checked if the exterminator finds nothing.
idk if this matters but I live in Maryland, USA

They don’t sound like bed bug bites to me. My guess is scabies if they are bug bites. But it might be a good idea to go to a different doctor for a second opinion, as they doctor should have checked for scabies.

I have a 4 month old lab/collie mix puppy. He has been licking and chewing on his skin (and paws) constantly (he has to stop in the middle of walking/playing often). I switched his food from Puppy Chow to ProPac two weeks ago (I was told that the ProPac was much better, corn is not the #1 ingredient), and also bathed him with a soothing shampoo. It has only gotten worse, if anything. We have lots of mosquitos in the area, but it seems doubtful they could penetrate his fur, or can they? Pretty sure his fleas are all gone (Frontline). Could he be allergic to the fabric softener on his dog bedding? I am at a loss, I feel bad for him! Also, he licks the area where he was neutered often. What does that mean? One more thing: he has chewed every dog bedding we put in his crate: beds, sheets, towels… Can anyone recommend a bed that is chewproof but cheaper than Orvis ToughChew? Thanks everyone!

i heard of this before on animal planet, it’s not fleas, or mosquitoes, it was something different, ask your vet about it.

She has gotten this way in the past 4 or 5 months. I give her benedryl and used special shampoos and changed food. I have read about many different kinds of allegy pills for dogs and they all say they are good. Any suggestions on a good one would be helpful.

The absolute best thing for allergies, for people or dogs, is honey made naturally in your area. Honey from your area will have the same thing in it that is causing your allergies but will fight them (fight poison with poison).
There is probably a “bee farmer” somewhere near you. Go buy some and give it a try. Just put a spoonfull in with your dogs food and stir it up.

I have a Labrador(rocky) aged 15 my grandmother has a dachshund(chico) aged 4-5 and my auntie has a
Shiba-inu(fern) aged 2-3.
It’s quite a vicious circle and i’ll try and make it easy to understand.

I live with my family and dog Rocky. My grandmother has Chico & lives with her son(my uncle) who’s dog is Fern.
Chico and Rocky are the eldest dogs and Fern is a youngster.

The problem first started when my Uncle first got Fern who’s currently on Anti-cancer tablets for our problem.
Chico and Fern live together so the problem spread to Chico who has given it to Rocky, Each dog Itch them selves to the point their fur is gone the skin is bleeding and gets infected, We all have the same (useless) Vet, And it costs a bomb every time we take them, They keep telling us they don’t know what it is and we’re beginning to give up. It’s starting to really bug me, as I know this problem is only happened when Fern arrived and because my dog is very old I feel like I cant enjoy my last year or so i have with him, He’s got enough problems as it is with joint pain and being deaf and blind with old age.

We have tried bathing him in special shampoos
Tea-tree spray
and a bunch of tablets but that cost us like £70 and they did nothing but give him a loose bum.
he’s currently on Prednisone steroid, but this can’t be long term because that’s very damaging for him.

Fern is on Anti-Cancer tablets for humans. Vets think Fern has an allergy, but to what?
If all three dogs are doing the same. Itch Itch Itch Bite Bite Bite Scratch Scratch Scratch Chew Chew Chew and it’s all night, no joke!

Please help me, I’m going insane!

The “Vet” should take a skin scraping to see if there is a Mite affecting the poor dogs. In the mean time try some “AloeVera” gel on the itching. it is very soothing.You can get it at the super market or chemist.Poor dogs I can imagine how they feel.
