Question by Em: Please help! How can I stop my dog from scratching until she’s bloody?
Background- Six months ago, I moved and my dogs seemed to get fleas at the same time. I had to treat my new house for fleas. I am 100% we don’t have fleas anymore, they’ve been gone for months.
Unfortunately, from six months to 1 year old (since the move), my chorkie WILL NOT STOP SCRATCHING. She scratches her armpits, behind her ears, her face, and her neck until it’s bloody.
-tried changing diet…don’t think it helped
-only bathe once a month or less (could bathe more with medicated shampoo?)
-old house didn’t have carpet, new house does…allergy in carpet?
What can I DO? It tears me up to see her rip open her skin like this. I have no idea how to help her, and cannot afford to take her to an allergist.
I have another dog, and she never scratches.
I have taken her to the vet. She said without taking her to the allergist, she can’t really help me.

Call your vet and explain her symptoms, they may ask you to take her in, but if not they will perscribe some medications., How ever which food are you feeding her? If you feed her low quality grocery store food, pedigree, purina, ol’roy…etc this could be the reason she has her breakouts.

We understand the dog is 13 years old, Doberman Mastiff. Our best friend, truly. A young Hungarian girl, who had squeezed through a padlocked gate, came to our door, bruised and shaking, with a Hungarian English Dictionary; she said “help me.” She didn’t know anyone here; we helped her. Her divorce from this Romanian man was finalized Friday. Tuesday at 2am someone is in the yard. Our dog is acting sick, farts, Whew! Coughing, choking, sneezing, bloody stool, but the Vet says allergies. Next day the dog throws up food we didn’t feed him. Thursday morning the dog can’t walk, can’t breathe, I lay down next to my best buddy, hold him tight, and he takes his last breath in my arms. It hurts so badly. What happened in three days?
