Dog has bad allergies, change food?

My dog has allergies, we’ve decided, because he has chronic ear infections, as well as runny eyes and sneezes a good bit. I talked to a vet about his allergy problems and he said that if he bites at his paws it may be a food allergy. Well I started to watch him more closely and he does in fact bite at his paws. I’m not sure though if he’s just cleaning them? He doesn’t bite at them randomly, he usually finds a good spot in the corner and goes and gnaws on all 4 paws at once, so I wondered if this was his way of cleaning them?

How can I tell WHAT food allergen he’s allergic to? There’s so many from corn and wheat and beef in the foods that I’d never guess which one… help?
I used to work at PetsMart but I didn’t know if there was a particular way to weed out which allergy it is. How much is allergy testing?

My beautiful GSD has been itching and scratching herself raw on her belly and hind legs. She has lost a lot of fur and the skin underneath is red. We have seen the vet but he was no help, he said it was an infection and the heat has made it worse. We give her Revolution for flea control, she’s had 2 courses of antibiotics, steroid injections, and medicated dog shampoo baths, but nothing has really helped. She may be allergic to something, and I want to change her diet, but don’t know what is best to feed her. I don’t have the time to home cook meals for her. We are in Australia. Any ideas???

My dog has sensitive skin and she’s always itchy. Lately she seems to be getting worse. She’s been eating Natural Balance Potato & Duck (allergy formula) food for a few months now, but it doesn’t seem to help her. Can anyone recommend a different brand? I feel so bad for my poor itchy pup. Thanks.
