There are many natural flea fighting items.
Cedar
Dawn lemon scented dish soap, (make a spritz)
Tea Treel Oil,
Diatomaceous Earth (GREAT STUFF) make sure you get human grade, not pool grade,
Add garlic to diet
Borax sprinkled around house (Lightly then vaccum up)
Lemongrass, citronella and Lavendar essential oils,
Eucalyptus leaves
Yeast sprinkled on coat.
GOOD LUCK!

Hi,
I am very disturbed to discover that two out of my three Labradors (inside dogs) have fleas….a disturbing discovery in any case, but particularly maddening given that I have had them on K-9 Advantix since at least March, and have not gone “overdue” in the dosing schedule. What on earth is going on?? I have two dogs with fleas, I had to go away for a couple of days the day after I made the horrible discovery, but bathed the first dog with Adams Flea & Tick shampoo (I didn’t know the other had the fleas, plus I hadn’t needed the shampoo in literally years and only had one dog’s worth in house). I also re-treated everyone with the K-9 Advantix. It seems inexcusable to me that, approximately $36.00 worth of Advantix later, I come home to fleas, fleas, fleas (plus an added bonus of a dog who now appears to have flea allergy dermatitis!) How can I treat my home (we have birds, kids, & fish)? Do exterminators have any edge? Uggh! Thanks in advance fellow dog lovers!

Need some help. I will say, first, that I am very knowledgeable about dog food, allergies, etc. I have done a lot of research because my dog has been plagued with problems since we adopted her at 9 months. She is now 7.5 and about 9 months ago, she just came down with hair loss on her legs and under her arms. She licks these areas obsessively, I do NOT think she is itching, I think it is a compulsion. She is deaf, and sometimes she gets into her own zone. Sometimes, she licks while she is sleeping or drifting off.
Sophie is a pitbull mix. She is all white, and pinkish with very sensitive skin.
She has been on antibiotics, steroids, allergy meds, creams, salves. She does not appear to be in pain. Her legs are just missing hair in parts-up to her thighs. She only eats her food, and allergy treats. It will get better and then start again. I trust my vet, but I don’t know what else to do at this point. She is always happy and eats and plays.
If anyone has any ideas, please share.

We think he may be allergic to something else. Are there antihistamines that work for dogs? Our vet seemed to think the only thing to use was cortico-steroids.
