Question by montaellis4: Can’t get rid of fleas in my puppy?
I bought my puppy Ricky when he was 8 weeks old. I’ve now had him for 2-3 months. I put Frontline monthly flea treatment on him each month (on the back of the neck), yet he doesn’t stop scratching.
I have no idea what to do, he is my first dog ever, so I’m not very knowledgable on this stuff.
Please help, I hate watching the poor thing scratch all the time. Am I not getting rid of the fleas properly or is this some other problem? (Like an allergy or skin condition)

Set him up an appointment with the vet. They will give him a treatment bath to immediately relieve him, and let them know Frintline isnt working. They can give you another type of flea medication that would work.
Alot of people have been having trouble with frontline, fleas are becoming immune to it or something. It irritates the hell out of my cat, so I have to get revolution. It is a bit more expensive but works. I’m not sure if they have it for dogs though…
Do NOT get any shampoos or anything for fleas from the store. They will only further irritate the skin and make the itching worse. You can however get a moisturizing shampoo for puppies and bathe him in that for some feel good time
Won’t last long but it’s something until the vet appt.
EDIT: Just looked it up they DO have revolution for dogs, heres a link. I’d get this instead

Question by suzie B: My dog has fleas and i have 3 other animals i will be treating w/ frontline but my apartment will still have ?
fleas in it but i am kinda scared about bombing the aparment. Will the fleas continue to live even though they will not be able to live on my dog b/c of the frontline? Its september and starting to get cold so that may factor in on the fleas thriving in a colder enviroment. Is there any safer affective way to treat my apartment? I dont want to bomb since i live in a apartment and is not totally safe AND one of my dogs has skin allergies. I want stop these lil pest from biting me and i want them out of me and my animals lives!!!!

Bomb the apartment ASAP. If not you will have fleas in your carpet all winter and they will bite your ankles and your legs and they are gross and dirty.

Question by Keely Sutherland: My dog has itchy scabby red bumps but no fleas, what’s wrong?
I have a 5 month old Shepherd mix puppy (German/Aussie/Collie we don’t really know). She lives indoors mostly, is vaccinated, and has been flea treated/heartworm treated. So that’s why I can’t figure out what these scabby red bumps on her skin are! they vary in size from very small to the size of a pencil eraser. They are inflamed and red with little scabs over the top of some. They are only located on the backs of her legs (mostly hind) and behind her ears (around her neck).
She constantly itches and bites at her self. Our vet tested her for some puppy dermafungus type bug and she tested negative and they even gave us medication just in case along with flea medicine. She’s completed both treatments for about a month and is still itching!
We switched her to an organic, avocado dog food that is supposed to help with skin allergies/dry itchy skin, and we bought her special hot-spot shampoo and oatmeal conditioner. This has helped SLIGHTLY, but just in keeping her from itching so much… she still has the bumps!
Has anyone had a similar experience? Or any other suggestions? She’s been to the vet almost once or twice a month for the past 3 months we’ve had her and has always had a clean bill of health. Can you put cortizone on them or would getting her a shot of cortizon at the vet help?

steroid pills might help as diet change, she might have scabies or some other derm condition. can you take her to a vet school or a specialist. this is very distressing for the dog, poor thing.
