Question by Hazel C: My cat is losing weight & I can’t get him to eat. I’ve tried canned foods even.?
He just recently became an outside cat again after living inside for about two years. I’m pretty sure he suffers from allergies because he’s always sneezing and has runny eyes. He does have a tendency to throw up his food every once and awhile. But now he just isn’t eating. I’ve left canned food out, different types of dry food and dog food. I even left out a piece of lunch meat which was gone in the morning but we’ll never know if he actually ate it… help!
He was a stray that came to us. He was always an outside cat. Then two years ago one of my neighbors trapped my other cat and took him to the pound. Since then, my cats have lived indoors but this cat is not meant for the indoors. My two cats do not get along and the outside guy has a thing for peeing on the furniture. If anything he was less comfortable living indoors.
TOOK HIM TO THE VET. HE HAS FELINE AIDS :’(

THANKS FOR THE HELP ALL

top low protein, grain free dog foods?

Question by Myta: top low protein, grain free dog foods?
My 7 mo old akita is developing over angled pasterns (down in the pasterns). Vet recomendation is to drop the protein level below 23%, and keep her down on weight (not too high in fat, but she’s not overweight as it is). She does have some allergies, so she needs to stay on a grain-free diet. Puppy food is out since most of it is based on high protein levels (she’s on 27% now). what high quality foods do you guys know of that would work for her? I need a few options, so I can find whatever it is I need in local stores and not have to be constantly ordering and shipping dog food (50 lb bags are expensive to ship!).

One option I found was AvoDerm’s grain free line (the salmon formula is 22%, the chicken is 23%, so both would work, but I don’t know if they’re in my area). Blue Wilderness is out as though their normal line is in the low 20s, the grain free line is all over 30% protein! Taste of the wild’s lowest is 25%, I’d like below that.
Blue Basics, while not grain free, is considered to be “common-allergen-free” and is 22% protein
My problem with looking up all of them is that I don’t know all the brands that are out there. I only know what I’ve used in the past and what her breeder uses, which as far as grain-free went, was the brand she’s on (4Health), AvoDerm, Blue Buffalo (seen, never used), and Taste of the Wild, which is why I looked up those three brands. I just don’t know what other brands are considered to be top quality foods, and my vet is really busy, he’ll call me back, but the more I know, the less I have to ask him / the less he has to explain.

What are some grain and potato free dog foods?

Question by Jenny: What are some grain and potato free dog foods?
I like to change my dog’s food often, after every bag. I like her to have a variety of foods because I don’t want her to develop any allergies. I always feed grain free but a lot of grain free foods have a lot of potato in it. I really don’t want my dog eating so much potato every day. The only brands that I know of that are grain free and potato free are Nutrisca (chickpea based) and Great Life (tapioca based). I know I can feed a homemade raw diet, and I am planning on eventually switching. But until I switch can anyone recommend any other grain and potato free foods? Thanks!
Thanks, but yeah Nature’s recipe is high in potato.

Question by : How come most of the premium dog foods are high in protein?
I’m looking on www.dogfoodanalysis.com and all of the six star dog foods are 32%-42% in protein and grain-free. Two or three of the five star foods are high in protein (33%-34%) but the rest are much lower and also not grain-free. I won’t feed my dog anything with grains in it due to his allergies so if I want to feed him a high quality food – I have no choice but to feed one with 34% protein. People are saying that’s way too high for my dog and that excessive protein can cause liver damage, kidney failure, and pancreas issues.
Help me out!
