Question by Metallic_Rainbow: Dog may have ear infection? Or Allergy from Hartz’s flea collar?
His left ear is really swelled up. There’s some sandy looking yellow wax littering his sensitive skin, inside the ear? And it’s just really painful to look at, though he doesn’t seem to be in any pain.
It showed up after we put in the Hartz flea collar. When we saw his ear, we immediately took off the collar (allergy?), and gave him a flea and tick bath instead. I know we should take him to the vet, but my mother’s work schedule clashes with the veterinarians opening and closing time.
Is the infection(if it is one) that serious, or what? And if so, how do we (my sisters and I) get him to the vet?

The only way to really know if it’s infected or not is to get him to a vet. That it has significant swelling is a problem anyway, even if it isn’t infected. It could be an allergic reaction.
The vet will take a swab of the material in his ear & examine it. It’s always a good idea to stay away from Hartz products though- or any OTC products for fleas, deworming, etc. A lot of them are not safe.

Question by William Ramsey: Why did my dog start stinking once i moved from Alaska to Florida?
Back in 06′ I moved from Alaska to Wyoming. The time i lived in Wyoming he was fine, he didn’t stink itch or anything. Then we moved to Florida. Once we got there he was fine for about a month but then he started stinking like bad feet, itching REALLY refusely, and losing spots of hair (Probably form itching). I give him a bath about once a month because it isn’t good to do it any more within a months time. So what is it? My vet (which was a dummy) Said its a skin allergy, and hes probably right, but he didn’t specify or anything. I don’t have allot of money to bring him to the vet. What should i do?
I forgot to mention, i moved back to Alaska about 5 months ago, so its not the heat anymore or the fleas.

Feed food with no grains in it. Raw food is the best, it’s not as expensive as you’d think, you can buy it at pet stores in freezers (just ask your local pet store) and 99% of the time it clears up any allergies.

Question by Jester: Looking for sure fire way to rid mouse from garage.?
I have a mouse in my garage. I had a bag of dog food and the little critter got into the bag. I had to buy a metal trashcan to house the food, but the mouse is still with us, though he can’t get to the food now. I have heard of several ways including mothballs, gluetraps, mouse traps and sonic noise makers. I would rather not have to deal with a dead mouse because of the kids seeing it, thinking it might be mickey, but he has to go. A cat is out of the question do to fiance’s allergies. What have some of you folks tried and been successful with? I was looking into perhaps an instant kill humane trap by Victor. Mouse crawls into gadget and gets a shot of electric. I am wondering if the mouse would indeed crawl into such a thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. R
GOT HER!!! Pregnant female. Good ole snap trap with peanut butter.

Question by Mo: can you get acne or zits from a cat ?
We have had a kitten and it seems that ever since we’ve had her my teenage sons (even me) have been starting to get zits on our face, chest and back. might be a coincidence and something we ate or sunscreen we use but is it possible that it might be the cat? could it be we have an allergy that manifests itself in the form of acne ? We also have parrot, chickens, geese and 4 large dogs and no one has ever had bad skin.

The cat cannot possibly give you acne or zits.
First of all, acne and zits are not contagious, its not a disease.
Secondly, you can’t catch anything (diseases) from other animals, (except rabies from a dog) because they have a different genetic code and body system.
In your case, it is a total coincidence.
Hope this helped!

Question by *JUST ME*: Has anyone ever got a puppy from hell?
For years now I’ve been wanting a bull terrier puppy, and finally saving and researching I got one for 1500 bucks.Anyways now I wish I didn’t get the little bastard,I hate him. This thing has to be the stupidest puppy I have ever seen in my life.He is mean, He has already destroyed hundreds of dollars worth of things in the short time he has been here.Dosen’t listen what so ever. Eats anything in sight. done spent hundreds of dollars on his damn skin allergies, killed a kitten and and actually ate the hamster. he is only three months old ,but a freaking night mare. I know it’s wrong to hate an animal and usually I love animals I never ran across a animal I didn’t like intell now.
Did I just get a mentally retarded dog are is this whole breed retarded. I know the dicription of the breed is clownish and stubborn. But this is crazy.
So has anyone else got a puppy they regret.
Yes he does have a trainer, and I also try and teach him. but he doesn’t learn NOTHING at all. I really think somethings wrong with him. I have had bully breeds before not a bull terrier, anyways they as well was stubborn and head strong but they did learn.

that is what happens when you do not get a dog that is suited for you. my dog trainer ownes 4 of them and they are fantastic! you cant just expect him to know things YOU need to train him. its not the dog its YOU
ADD: invest in getting a kennel. if he has skin problems try switching his food it will work wonders. when you cannot supervise him put him in his kennel. work on training. youtube can help you with that as well or get a dog trainer but you need to start on that training. my dog trainers bull terriers if she tells them to stay they will not move from that spot for hours until she gives them the release word
