How do I protect my lawn from fungus?

Question by Sarah C: How do I protect my lawn from fungus?
My lawn has developed a fungus of some kind that seems to be slowly spreading. It is medium grey in color and leaves a black stain on your skin if touched. My dogs have developed an allergy to it so I need to find out which chemical I can spray on it to wipe it out completely. Any ideas?

I would buy an aff-th-shelf fungicide from the hardware store.
This is unusual.

Question by Jessie: Appropriate Dog Food to transition from puppy to adult?
I have a bichon (50%) / maltese / shizu dog who is about 10 months and we are trying to wean her off puppy food. I was hoping for some suggestions on an appropriate brand.

-She likes eating dirt, which suggests she might not be getting the minerals she needs, so a brand that addresses that would be nice.

- We don’t feed her anything except her food, nothing under the table or anything, so something that will fufill her nutrition needs is what we are looking for.

-She also seems to lick her paws a lot, and the vet suggested it was allergies but we are in the process of testing that. I don’t know if there is something with regards to her diet that addresses that or if there is a particular brand that does so.

Other than that, we would just like a food that she will enjoy. She eats pretty much anything, so it shouldn’t be a problem. Is there one out there that your dogs particularly like, that you suggest?
She already has received all her shots up to date, we’ve been going to the vet and updating her shots and vaccinations since we got her at 8 weeks.

We are feeding her Purina puppy food.

What are they bumps and stuff from?

Question by Brenton: What are they bumps and stuff from?
Ok. Another dog question. I suppose I really love my dog this morning enough to ask questions about him.

So he’s a 10yr old american cockerspaniel. I have had him since he was a puppy. In the past month or so something strange has developed. He had what are bumps or grooves appear all along his spine and his skin has really dried. the bumps have become so irritating to him that he has scratched and scratched (as dogs do) and some of them have broken or scabbed over. His skin has become really dry.

I thought perhaps at first they were insect bites, but the seem too large to be and I checked but no fleas.

Then I thought perhaps that it was something from his dog-sitters. That maybe they had been bathing him with human shampoo (can that do that?). But he hasn’t been there in a couple of weeks and he still has the problem.

I went by the vets a couple of days ago and wanted to get a better shampoo/conditioner for him and they stated that it could be perhaps allergies. We didn’t stay for a check-up or anything though (time and money being factors). Is it allergies?

Anyhow I wanted to know if anyone else has had similar situations with their dogs and can know off-hand what they might be associated with.

how can i provide my dog relief from skin rash?

Question by monee_dartt: how can i provide my dog relief from skin rash?
i’m hoping to find home or over-the-counter remedies as we’ve just spent $ 150 to find out he’s got an allergy, but have yet to figureout WHAT he’s allergic to! thanks, in advance.
oh, and we’re giving him benadryl, but he’s still miserable & scratching almost non-stop. he developed a staph infection from an open wound (caused by scratching himself)

Question by Em: Please help! How can I stop my dog from scratching until she’s bloody?
Background- Six months ago, I moved and my dogs seemed to get fleas at the same time. I had to treat my new house for fleas. I am 100% we don’t have fleas anymore, they’ve been gone for months.
Unfortunately, from six months to 1 year old (since the move), my chorkie WILL NOT STOP SCRATCHING. She scratches her armpits, behind her ears, her face, and her neck until it’s bloody.
-tried changing diet…don’t think it helped
-only bathe once a month or less (could bathe more with medicated shampoo?)
-old house didn’t have carpet, new house does…allergy in carpet?
What can I DO? It tears me up to see her rip open her skin like this. I have no idea how to help her, and cannot afford to take her to an allergist.
I have another dog, and she never scratches.
I have taken her to the vet. She said without taking her to the allergist, she can’t really help me.

Call your vet and explain her symptoms, they may ask you to take her in, but if not they will perscribe some medications., How ever which food are you feeding her? If you feed her low quality grocery store food, pedigree, purina, ol’roy…etc this could be the reason she has her breakouts.
