My dog, Winter, scratches all the time. He doesn’t have fleas. I believe he may be getting bit by ants or he may have skin allergies. I hate seeing him like this. And recently it’s getting worse. Unfortunately, the vet can’t see him until next week. Can you answer these questions for me?
What is the proper dog food to by for dogs with itchy skin?
What is the proper shampoo for dogs with itchy skin?
How often should I bathe him?
-I was doing once every two weeks is that too much or too less?
What else should I be doing until his appointment?

My beautiful GSD has been itching and scratching herself raw on her belly and hind legs. She has lost a lot of fur and the skin underneath is red. We have seen the vet but he was no help, he said it was an infection and the heat has made it worse. We give her Revolution for flea control, she’s had 2 courses of antibiotics, steroid injections, and medicated dog shampoo baths, but nothing has really helped. She may be allergic to something, and I want to change her diet, but don’t know what is best to feed her. I don’t have the time to home cook meals for her. We are in Australia. Any ideas???

My 7 month old German Shepard has been to the vets on several occassions over the past month for tests as he developed an almost bald patch along his back. It looks like someone has taken a lawn mower to his back. He is regularly treated for fleas and wormed. The patch is about 6 inches long and about 2 inches wide, it is in the very centre of his back along his spine and starts from the base of his tail to about 6 inches up his back. He has had many tests. He doesnt have mange or fleas or a flea allergy. My Vet thinks it may be stress but I am querying that as he is the most laid back balanced dog you have ever met, even when the fireworks were on he never bothered. So has anyone got any ideas, I am wondering if it is maybe an allergy to something we are missing, but my vet dismissed this.
