My dog was treated for fleas two weeks ago at the vet. For the past 3-4 days she has been scratching profusely and has caused some sores. She was not scratching like this before the treatment. On Sat I noticed she had a sore on her tail that was bleeding a little and she kept gnawing at it and biting it. I called an emergency vet line and they told me to give her benedryl and neosporin. None of it worked. Does anyone know how much an allergy shot would be on average at a vet?

I found a dog on the side of the road. She has very dry skin. It itches her very badly. She does not smell bad at all like people say when dogs have the mange. She had a few bald patches but not big gaps just a light spots where hair is missing. She only had a few ticks on her when we picked her up. No fleas at all. Which I thought was unusual since it is summer and she was out in the woods. I have bathed her and bought hotspots spray and stuff for dry skin. It is slowly clearing up but she still scratches so bad she makes sores. I don’t know anything about the mange but she don’t smell, she don’t have huge bald spots, she has very dry skin. So is this just a dry skin problem that needs some conditioner and some moisture, or is it more serious?

my bichon frise(well known for allergies)has weird itchy spots on his skin. particularly near his anus. its the size of large pimples&a bit red&swollen kind of. he doesnt have parasites cause i keep up with his flea&heartworm medication. i feed him nutro natural choice but i dont think its the diet cause hes had this since the food before (blue buffulo). we’ve gone to the vet and they tested for fungal&bacterial infection. they’ve shaven it&gave us antibacterial creme&antibiotic pills..but that was a few months ago..it seemed to work(his tail area and lowerback was inflamed and lots of red bumps ) the anitbiotics ended for quite a while (ive heard only a week for antibiotics or something otherwise its bad for the dog..)&we’ve kept up with the creme afterwards until the bumps went away. there were like one or two on his skin around the shoulder area, but we didnt put on much creme on it cause of the long fur he has&thought that the anibiotic would make it go away.. now its back.read on.

I have a beagle mix I believe the other half is collie, based on his coat, neck and facial structure.
He has always been very itchy. We had to get him a hydrocortosone shot in january when he was chewing the skin off his back legs. I got hydrocortoson spray, but he hates for me to spray it on him and it doesn’t last long. I’m not sure if it is his skin or an allergy. I dont believe it is fleas, because i never see fleas on him or in the bathtub when I give him baths.
He seems to extra itchy after a bath which makes me believe it is dry skin. I am using an oatmeal shampoo that doesnt seem to work. He itches all day. He makes his skin red with all the scratching. Anyone have any advice that has been thru this? I have never had a dog with a problem like this.
I was told to give him benadryl to see if it is an allergy, but i would have no idea how much to give him!

I have a 3 yr old Black Lab that started scraching about 4 months ago. We have spent a fortune between the 2 doctors we are seeing (one is an allergy specialist) getting allergy testing done, fixing ripped ears with surgery, antibotics for the infections, shots, creams, food trials, shampoos, and pills. NOTHING has helped. We checked for mange 4 seperate times (they came out neg.) and have had someone come out and inspect the house for fleas (neg. also). My 2 other dogs are not having the same problems. He is now living in a e-collar and is miserable because he can’t itch. My husband and I don’t want to put him to sleep, but we have run out of options. PLEASE any suggestions at this point would help!!
