She itches all the time, scratches and bites and chews on herself all day and most of the night. My vet keeps saying it’s allergies, but the shots don’t help and it’s not going away when the seasons change. Her skin is red and always feels wet…. she smells awful, even when she’s just had a bath, she still smells like…. well I can’t explain what she smells like but she stinks. She gets 3 baths a week, and flea treatments once a month and she stayed absolutely covered in fleas. She’s an inside dog. Only goes outside to use the bathroom. She’s losing her hair off her stomach and back and has already lost all of her hair off her butt.

It started a few weeks ago, first he started to bite his paws and his butt, then he started to scratch and lick his belly like crazy…first I thought he has fleas…well, I bought a shampoo which kills fleas so I gave him a bath and found 2 fleas in the water. I can’t see any more fleas on him now.
But anyways…. what I am worried about is the bumps he has on his skin. When I pet him, all I can feel is bumps, he is covered in bumps they kinda look like red pimples and dry skin… the skin comes of off them too, most of the bumps are on his legs, butt, belly and sides. Hes driving me crazy, all he does is scratch and bite. Can anybody tell me what it is and what I can do to make it stop.
I read about canine allergy but I wanted to ask on here too to see if people could help me on here.
I brought him to the vet in April to get all his shots….I told the vet about the itchy paws and butt, she told me to get some allergy medicine over the counter which I did and it didn’t help. He didn’t have the bumps then, they showed up maybe 3 weeks after the vet visit. I wish I could bring him to the vet again but….I am very short with money right now….since I am pregnant and need to see my doctor a lot which is not cheap.
I hope I can get some information on here
I feel so sorry for my dog

My dog continually scratches & chews at her back. I have bathed her & given her flea treatments, & I can honestly say that she does not have fleas, yet she continues to scratch herself raw on parts of her body. She is healthy had all of her shots & the vet cannot give me any explanation other than she might have allergies. Can this be the only answer?

This cat is allergic to fleas, so we make sure to keep that problem resolved. We have taken her to the vet and she has no fleas (he did give her an allergy shot to be sure), she does not have mites, neither does she have infection. He did an allergy test on her and found nothing other than the allergy to fleas. Even though she was only scratching her ear, I had the vet check everything from mites to worms, just to be on the safe side.
In the past, once I saw her scratch even once, I would use her flea med immediately and the problem would be solved. I rescue animals so sometimes one will bring a flea in, even though I quarantine the new ones, stuff happens sometimes. And I stay prepared. I also have the exterminator come every three months … an ounce of prevention.
She began scratching about three weeks ago and I began the ritual. However, when I checked, I saw no sign of fleas. Now I do know when a cat or dog is allergic, one can wreak havoc – and there is never just one.
When she did not stop scratching after the first day, I loaded up the kitty carrier and took her to the vet. I have done this three times and he has not found anything. She has scratched until the spot just behind her ear is raw, and it looks terrible. I have a natural medication I use on it and that is about the only thing that helps. I have tried all of the medications and they make her ear burn, cause her obvious pain and do little to even help the raw area. My problem is, even after I put the natural concoction on that helps, she will wait a day and then begin scratching again. Thus, about time it scabs over and looks like it might heal, she breaks it open again. I just put the medication on her rear again this morning and she actually purred while i was putting it on, and then began rubbing against my legs as cats will do when they are happy. I sat and held her for awhile so she would not try and rub the salve I made off, and the little booger actually took her paws and wrapped around my neck as if she were hugging me.
I am just totally stumped! I have never seen any animal keep scratching as she does, even when I know it is hurting her. I am worried she is going to permanently damage herself.
Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions?
Add: We have tried the basic anti-itch medications as well.
