Question by snowyniner: Is Innova EVO red meat dry dog food okay for puppies?
Is it suitable to feed this dog food to my four month old golden retriever puppy? I switched him from Healthwise to the EVO food since it has no grains. However I have read that the high protein and calcium content may make it suitable for adult dogs only, particularly in the case of large breeds. I would like to keep him on this food since his skin allergies have cleared up and he loves it. Also his hair is looking so much better. But if is really bad for him I will switch him to Innova EVO large breed puppy dry dog food. I just want to see what the general opinion is on this dog food since I have no experience with this.

The kibbles are very small…..
The protein in EVO red meat is to high for a golden puppy. He might not tolerate it very well.
Just stay with the puppy food for now and then switch when he is like a year old.
Good luck….

My dog suffers from allergies, and we recently discovered it was not a food allergy but an environmental allergy. After this determination, I am looking for a new food for my dog so we can transition from hypoallergenic, limited ingredient diets, into something with a little more protein and a price tag that is less intimidating.
He currently eats Wellness Simple Solutions (the duck and rice flavor) but it’s absurdly expensive and it’s mostly grain. Now that we don’t have to avoid chicken, beef, and other common ingredients I was looking into other brands. I want to try something that is not rich to the extreme because he seems to get diarrhea and vomiting whenever we tried diets that were too high in protein and fat. EVO is out of the question as he had an awful reaction when we tried to introduce it several months ago.
He is a male beagle/terrier mix, about 20 months old, 28 pounds, extremely active and energetic (except when he’s on his allergy meds).
Should I feed Innova (the chicken and turkey original formula) or TOTW (not sure what formula)? Can anyone here give me some advice from personal experience? (I can read the dog food analysis page and the ingredient list on my own, I’m looking for real life experiences.)
