I read that someone washed their itchy dog with pine tar soap for relief of his skin itch. Is this safe? Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap is used for human skin problems. What is your opinion? I am also going to start him on flax seed oil. Thank you!

My dogs, (Yorkies) are having itchy issues: biting of the paws, etc. No fleas, so it is obviously an allergy problem.
They are on a natural corn, wheat and soy-free food, and we have tried different flavors and contents. Chicken is not the issue, or tomatoes, because we tried other ingredients. Apparently the food is not the problem.
They are scheduled for a vet visit this week, and I know my vet is going to suggest I change the food to Science Diet, which I won’t, because it’s total crap-o food full of crap. So that’s not even an option.
Any ideas?

My dog is allergic to fleas and this isn’t a problem during the winter. This summer he got a few at the dog park and we bough him Advantix. We applied it about a week ago and bathed him the day before yesterday to remove any dead fleas. He was thoroughly rinsed. We feed him corn free dog food, He is a 1 year old, neutered miniature American Eskimo dog. He also doesn’t appear to have dry flaky skin. So there is his background the problem is he is itching like crazy behind his arms and on his tummy for the last week. He doesn’t usually itch like this even when he had fleas. Any suggestions on what it could be or how to relieve his symptoms.
