Question by Mads: I am so ill… and it’s so weird… I have no idea what it could be. Helpp!!?
Last monday I had a dry-ish and sore throat, I didnt think anything of it other than it was probably allergies because the weather was getting warmer. The next day it was slightly more sore and I had a canker sore on the roof of my mouth, still didn’t think anything of it because that happens from time to time. By wednesday, my mouth had swelled up to an unreal size, i had pus-blister things on my tongue, and inside my cheeks, my tosils were red and swollen, as was underneath my tongue. I could hardly fit my tongue in my mouth. I also had a dull, barely there headeache and I had lost my appetite, not just because of my mouth pain, i had just lost all desire to eat. I went to the dr and i got tested for strep throat and mono, both tests negative. he said i was moderately inflamed and had a tonsilitis infection, i was prescribed a numbing mouth wash and sent on my way. my symptoms decreased more and more and by saturday I was somewhat able to eat more than liquid protein (mouth could swallow, not much of appetite). Sunday, I went for a jog. That evening I realized that my legs felt a little bit week like they were going to give out, I just assumed it was because i went running for the first time in a long time and it was in the cold (it had started to snow). That night I had to pull an all-nighter of studying and homework and essay writing for school, i laid down but never really slept. I felt very anxious and so i checked my blood pressure and pulse on my dads blood pressure moniter, my blood pressure was 129/80, my typical is 100-110/60 and my pulse was a whopping 136 bpms. I tried to relax before i had to go to class. i calmed down but i couldn’t stop my hands from shaking and my leg muscles from feeling weak and jello like. my mouth became very dry… felt like i was a dog with peanut butter on the roof of my mouth. that night, came home, nothing different, just realized that i hadn’t eaten anything more than a piece of toast in the morning but i still had no desire to eat. When i was getting ready to go to bed, i noticed that my face was all splotchy red and white, not like a rash but more like the way it looks when you get cold and its just all spotty and weird looking.. i looked down and realize all of my skin all over my body looked the same. i went to lay down and i couldn’t sleep. very shaky. despite my aversion to food, i forced myself to eat a banana and i drank plenty of water and gatorade. this morning nothing is different. my mouth is INCREDIBLY dry(cotton mouth status), i am very shaky, my skin is still all read and splotchy. I went to class this morning to take a test and my hands were turning blue when id aply pressure to write. my hands are very cold. my lips are so dry they hurt and are peeling. I checked my blood prssure and pulse, it is 127/82 and 107 bpm. I feel as though i have lost weight, i look visible thinner in my arms legs and more ribs are visible, my clotehs are fitting loose and my bras are too loose so i have to wear a sports bra. i weighed myself and i have not lost a single pound.

here are other observations, the dry mouth and cracking hurting lips made me think it was dehydration… i am drinking plenty of fluids… plus, i am a former bulimic, i know what severe dehydration feels like, no muscle cramps and my veins are not popping out of my arms.

my hands are cold and blue like they would be if i had low blood pressure but my blood pressure is much higher than normal.

when i put pressure on my skin with my finger, it looks like water RETENTION, but i am peeing just fine, pale yellow, and i am not bloated at all.

What could this possibly be? I am scared… I don’t do drugs or smoke… the last time i drank alcohol was last friday.

all of my symptoms, especially the blood pressure, cold hands, dry mouth, weight… jsut everything is so inconsistent with eachother. Please give me an idea of what ithis could possibly be… i can’t drive to dr i am scared and shaky

Question by Love’s Excelling Way: Anyone’s dog on the Honest Kitchen food? Wondering if it’s healthy enough? Also is it tasty for the dog?
My little monkey is sooo picky! He only likes one kibble. And he eats it in the evening when he’s hungry. It’s Orijen. He will only eat the one kind, not the fish one. I have tried him on RAW, he doesn’t like it, Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Halo. All kinds and he won’t eat any other kibble but Orijen. But I know that his breed is prone to allergies and feeding the one kind forever is not good. So I wanted to try The Honest Kitchen. Wondering if anyone feeds it to their dogs and if it’s healthy enough. www.thehonestkitchen.com

Thank you so much for your help if you can answer!
Lol. that was a funny answer Dogzzz. You may be right. I checked out that website. But I still do want to make sure he gets the best food possible. He’s a cute little monkey and I love him!

I’m sure it is healthy enough for him/her. You MUST be careful of a dog’s allergies. Give him plain yogurt, sounds weird but it helps their digestive system and keeps their ears clean from yeast infections!!! I have this to my dog all the time he loved it. Every night at 8. Also, they’re not allergic to it.
It’s not that the dog doesn’t like something, it’s most likely because they know their stomach simply cannot handle it. This is true for most dogs unless they’re curious haha. Oh puppies =]
Oh and many dogs are allergic to corn and grains….doesn’t help many dog foods are made out of this.
A simple meal you can make anytime for your puppy is rice and hamburger. Don’t mix anything else unless they’re puppy vitamins. Your dog will be able to get nutrients from this.

my golden retriever has allergies and has a rash in her crotch area almost constantly(sorry to be explicit). the vet told me she always has to be on benedril..like regular benedril for people! we give her 2 caplets a day and it keeps her biting at bay.

Do people think it’s normal to have sick dogs?

Question by Freedom: Do people think it’s normal to have sick dogs?
Sure seems to be a new question about dogs throwing up and coughing and skin issues and allergies and one illness after the other on this site. Why do you suppose that is? Has anyone ever thought … man this should not be normal or this common? The vets office parking lots are full daily all day.. WHY?
Nutrition, over vaccination, over medicating in the name of prevention? I assure you there IS a reason and it is NOT normal every day issues dogs should be having. Why do you think dogs are so sick?

Just like people, dogs get sick and can have medical issues. Not every little thing needs vet attention, that’s why people like to ask here- so dog savvy people can share their opinions. It DOES alarm me though, when you see a life threatening issue going on, and the owners’ posting ?s about it 4xs a day, even with dozens of people telling them to get to their vet.

What it’s like to be allergic to animals

This video is to inform you of what kind of reaction one might have to animals if they are allergic. A lot of times people don’t realize that they’re allergic to dogs, cause a lot of people break out when they pick them up in what looks like “bug bites”. So, most people assume that their dog just has fleas. I thought this for a while myself growing up when one day an allergist told me that I was allergic to dogs and that’s why my skin broke out in bumps when I picked a dog up. That’s when I discovered that it was an allergic reaction, not fleas biting me. lol. Maybe you’re allergic to certain animals and are trying to find out if you are or not? Or maybe you just want to know about the kinds of reactions people have when they are allergic. Either way, enjoy. :) I must also mention that my dog is a short haired dog. I break out when I pick him up. But If I’m around a long haired dog, I get the same reaction as I would around a horse but a little worse. (Wheezing, watery eyes, stuffy nose, etc.) So, I can be around a short haired dog and breathe fine, but not for a long haired dog…. It’s the dogs skin which is called “dander” is what we’re allergic to. We’re not allergic to the fur like most people assume. And more dander usually collects on long haired dogs than short haired dogs. That’s why my reaction is a lot worse with long haired dogs. I’m also allergic to birds and bunnys. I have the same kind of reaction to birds as I do dogs(breaking out). But I have the same
