Question by Marcy C: Are my allergies causing all these symptoms? I don’t know what to do as I keep getting sicker.?
I have been diagnosed with allergies to everything: trees, grass, several foods, mold, dogs, cats, and several weeds. For the past two to three months, I have had a constant sinus infection that has not gone away despite four courses of antibiotics (Omnicef 2x, Cipro, Levaquin), several courses of prednisone, and a hydrocortisone shot. I also take Zyrtec D and Claritin daily as well as a steroid nasal spray and irrigate my sinuses regularly. Now, my glands on both sides of my neck are swollen. And I have a persisten low grade fever running between 99 and 101.5 every day. I have severe headaches often and constant nasal congestion. It keeps feeling like I have something stuck in my nose. The discharge is often light green or yellow in color. My doc has also dianosed me with Bronchitis this whole time and today said I am not moving air well through my lungs. I don’t know where to go from here. Doc gave me more prednisone and antibiotics. I am tired all the time. Have missed a ton of days at work and don’t know what to do to feel better. I have had sinus problems for years, but two to three years ago I had several series of sinus cat scans and they have all come back normal. Anyone know what could be going on with my health?

Q&A: Help! Dog biting paws! Don’t know what to do!?

Question by mighty.mongoose: Help! Dog biting paws! Don’t know what to do!?
A few weeks back my dog had an infection in his paw. There wasn’t a cut, it was just raw and it got infected. It is cured now after a course of antibiotics but now I think I know the cause of the infection – he’s biting his paws like mad!!! I don’t know what to do with him; and I know it isn’t a food allergy as I haven’t changed his food. He is up to date with his booster, he’s fleed and wormed and he wears a flea and tic collar too so it’s very unlikely to be fleas. I haven’t changed what I was the floors with or anything and he hasn’t been going anywhere different for a walk. It’s all 4 paws he is chewing and he is doing it obsessively!!! I just don’t know what it can be! Also, it isn’t the hair between his paws, I cut that regularly as he’s a cavalier and his hair gets quite long. Any ideas what it is or what I can do to relieve it?
It’s not an ingrown toenail either. My dog is VERY well groomed and looked after and he goes on plenty of walks to keep his nails down. His nails are a perfect length.

Question by Livee B: does anyone know the affects of a dog eating grain off of the Barn floor which is made from StoneDust????
My dogs are having allergies and the are 2 different dogs and I am wondering if them running into the barn to eat the horse grain off of the floor, if this has caused there itching problems. Some say they have food allergies, but 2 completely different breeds. One a pure breed the other a mutt. The stone dust I added to the path ways in the yard and the barn floor is the only change I can think off.

If it’s wheat, corn or soy….Those three things are the usual suspects when it comes to food allergies.

Add: It’s spring time, so they could have environmental allergies.

Help me… I don’t know what to do about my sick dog.?

Question by Bubbles: Help me… I don’t know what to do about my sick dog.?
I know this is long, but please read! I need some help.

About a month and a half ago, I took my puppy to the vet because he wasn’t acting right. They put his on Metronidozole. Well, he got worse. So I looked up reactions from the medication, and he had the “rare side effects”. So then, he became non responsive and limp. So I took him back to the vet. The vet said if I would have waited an hour to bring him in, he would have died. So I told the vet I thought he was having side effects from the medication… the vet told me that never happens. So that’s not what it was. (which I still disagree with)…… So then, this week, I notice my puppy is itching a lot, and biting his paws. Normal signs of allergies… so I take him to a different vet. The vet says he might have Fleas, mites, parasites, or a food allergy. So she gave me Revolution, to eliminate fleas, mites and parasites. That was two days ago. Today, he hasn’t eaten much. He ate this morning, and then he would not eat at all! But we just got him to eat a little. He also has some diarehha. So I look up Revolution, and those are side effects!! I don’t know if my puppy has a problem with meds… it’s just weird.

So I call an emergency Vet, and of course, they say, those aren’t normal side effects from that medication…. So I say, I know, They are rare! But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. *urgh*
Also, the vet before told me to give him Benedryl for his itching. Could that make him have Diarehha? Is this a normal side effect that shouldn’t be worried about???

My mom has money issues, and she doesn’t like my puppies because she has to pay for most of the Vet apts. =( So she hates when i ask to go to the vet, especially an Emergency one! I’m scared to talk to her about it. =( What would you do?

Question by Supersitter: Help please? My Bachon Frise bites at her paws and we don’t know how to stop it?
She has a dog cone on now, because she will bite and lick at the tops of her front two paws until they bleed and swell up. We asked the vet, and he said that she probably has allergies, so we bought her some hypo-allergenic food and dog treats, as well as some topical medication to put on her paws and sensitive skin dog shampoo. We have been doing this for the past six weeks and have seen no improvement. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you solve the problem? We have tried covering them with bandages but she always ripped them off. Thanks in advance!

It may be grass seeds stuck between her fingers!
