I have three dogs who do not have fleas and at the same time about a month and a half ago all started biting and itching at themselves like crazy. I haven’t changed detergents or anything, or treated the yard with anything, and since they all eat the same dog food I doubt they all developed an allergy to it at the same time. I bathe them with medicated shampoo (that I’ve used before with no problem) and they still tear themselves up with their teeth and claws. They all were at the vet in June to the tune of over $300 and I am trying to solve this without having to shell out more money at the vet if I can avoid it.

What Do Flea Bites Look Like?

My Pug named Sandy has fleas or has been bitten by fleas. She has the knots on her and I looked on some pages on the net and they said if a dog is allergic to flea bites, they get little knots and they turn red. One page said that were a flea bites, there will be spots that look like pepper. She also has the spots. Is there anything a vet can give her to help with the allergies? I have ordered the Frontine Spray and spray for the house if we have fleas in here. That won’t come until sometime next week. The Frontline drops don’t work, so what do I do until I get the spray to put on my dog and spray the house with?

He is a bullmastiff and he was on Eagle Pack Holistic Giant Breed Puppy food and I recently changed him to Wellness Large Breed. Since he has been completely switched to the new food, he has what looks like acne all over his poor little (ok… not so little) but all over where the food touches his face.
Could it be allergies? I am making a vet appointment tomorrow for the guy, but I was wondering if anyone has ever had anything like this happen.

Do Dogs Have Food Allergies Like Humans?

My 5 year old dog scratches and even bleeds on her underbelly due to this scratching. There are no parasites on her like ticks or fleas and I bathe her regularly, once a week, with all the medicinal shampoos. She does not go out on her own and is always in our yard where there are flowers and plants only and grass of course.

I keep seeing people asking about their itchy dog or their dog who who has the runs. Most of these haven’t considered an allergy. It seems also that a number of vet miss this possibility. Am I just sensitive because I have one?
