Question by Koter Boters misses Rufus!: How can I get my brother’s boxer to get more meat on him?
My brother’s Boxer is very skinny! Yesterday when I fed him I saw him turn and when he turned all I saw were ribs. He looked like he was just skin and bones but when he isn’t turned he doesn’t but he is still skinny.

Should he eat a better food or just eat more food?

My brother feeds him once a day but when I get there to feed him in the morning the dogs are both hungry. So I am thinking they need to be fed twice a day!

Rufus the boxer eats generic store brand food if that helps any. Both Rufus and Merle don’t have allergies or anything so I don’t see a prob;em with the food its just that Rufus to me needs to eat more.
Thanks! I have a bag of canidae my dog’s don’t eat so I will take some over to my brother’s house and see if they like it. I will feed them twice.
My brother’s other dog is ideal size and he is a Blue Heeler!
I do feed them wet food but its junk like the dry food! I don’t think my brother knows much about dog food thats why he buys what he buys at Kroger.

I will bring a measuring cup with me to see how much they eat. My brother doesn’t use one he just uses a sauce pan.
Thanks I will try and make the satin balls sometime when I have more money! My dogs might even like them!

If a store brand is all you can afford I suggest Kirklands brand sold at costco its alot better than purina or iams and it doesn’t contain corn

also a vet check should be done to be sure he doesn’t have worms or another un seen problem

also twice a day would be better. check the bag for how much to feed.

Hi, my 7 y/o male dog has a condition called inflammatory bowel disease and also food allergies to meat protein, he is not allowed any meat in his diet, i cook him dinner every night, usually consists of either rice or pasta with veges and cottage cheese and Hypoallergenic biscuits as recommended by our vet. Just wondering if any of you have the same problem with your animals or if you can suggest anything that i can give him that will taste yummy and give him everything he needs like vitamins and all that good stuff. Thanks a bunch

What about tofu? You could cut it up into small pieces and mix it in w/veggies. Also think about things like veggie burgers. But ask your vet if these things will be ok before you try them.

Question by snowyniner: Is Innova EVO red meat dry dog food okay for puppies?
Is it suitable to feed this dog food to my four month old golden retriever puppy? I switched him from Healthwise to the EVO food since it has no grains. However I have read that the high protein and calcium content may make it suitable for adult dogs only, particularly in the case of large breeds. I would like to keep him on this food since his skin allergies have cleared up and he loves it. Also his hair is looking so much better. But if is really bad for him I will switch him to Innova EVO large breed puppy dry dog food. I just want to see what the general opinion is on this dog food since I have no experience with this.

The kibbles are very small…..
The protein in EVO red meat is to high for a golden puppy. He might not tolerate it very well.
Just stay with the puppy food for now and then switch when he is like a year old.

Good luck….

what type of meat is best for dogs in their dry food?

Question by Me: what type of meat is best for dogs in their dry food?
For skin allergy’s
and for gassy poopie problems?
i can not figure out what to get anymore, He constantly has gas and the poops. I take him to the vets WEEKLY it seems like…And i can not afford the expensive brands..seriously like anything over 15 dollars i cant do. And i can only do that WEEKLY for 2 dogs with all the stuff going on right now. What can i do? i am having a baby in January and i just can not afford that 30-50 dollar dog food i just cant. and i have had him for like 3 years and i am not going to make him more miserable by giving him up. that’s just way meaner then buying cheap dog food.

better dog food or just add meat?

Question by my pit is the sh1t: better dog food or just add meat?
i was at dogfoodanalysis.com looking to see if i could find a little more affordable dog food. i currently feed blue buffalo to my almost 2 year old pitbull hemi. the review says its a 4star dog food and suffers from the excessive inclusion of grains. adding meat would benefit the dog. so the reason im thinking of changing is the cost of the dog food is almost insane. i used to get a 36 pound bag for 40 bucks well its gone up to almost 60 bucks a bag. hemi does agility & weight pulling and some schutzhund so he is very active. im wondering if just feeding some of a raw diet would help or should i just switch to a dog food that has more meat in it? i have no probelm feeding raw i just need to know how to do it. i know it can be expensive to feed raw. but we stick with blue buff. because for some reason alot of other foods make him sick not sure if it allergies or not. he has been on the blue buff for over a year now and i would really like to stick with that. any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
well i do feed him about 5 scrambled eggs every sunday when we eat them. i also give him hot dogs as treats. i also give him some lunchmeat sometimes. i dont mind buying the raw meat i just want hemi to have the right amount of meat in his diet. i will check into a raw feeding forum. and im going to look into the costco dog food…thanks
i just checked dog food site and it says to feed the wilderness to large breed adult dogs. so at what age is a pitbull considered a adult. he weighs 65 pounds. i always thought a adult was 2. i called our trainer and he says 3.
now im debating whether to switch him to the wilderness or just add some meats and veggies to his dog food now.
