Is It Safe To Give Your Dog Allergy Medicine??

My dog seems to be scratching and biting himself like crazy (not fleas, not worms, possibly his diet but I feed him home-cooked raw food now)
I was thinking maybe something in the air? Can I give him people allergy medicine? Is this harmful? One pill a day? The recomended dose for adults..

There are many natural flea fighting items.
Cedar
Dawn lemon scented dish soap, (make a spritz)
Tea Treel Oil,
Diatomaceous Earth (GREAT STUFF) make sure you get human grade, not pool grade,
Add garlic to diet
Borax sprinkled around house (Lightly then vaccum up)
Lemongrass, citronella and Lavendar essential oils,

GOOD LUCK!

My dog has a flea allergy and when fleas bite her she loses hair. We had her on advantage, but it would only kill fleas and not prevents them, and did nothing to ticks or mosquitoes. We have recently found ticks on her and we live in Florida so mosquitoes are just a part of life. Does anyone know of a medicine that will prevent AND kill fleas and ticks and will also prevent mosquitoes? We also have 2 other dogs who are not allergic to fleas and they are both on advantage. We have not found fleas on them, but we have found ticks. Please help!!

I have heard it works just as well. Also what brands do you use and how much is it. He has flea allergy dermatitis so we need something to help with that before he loses all of his fur again this summer. He can’t stop chewing himself

My two shelties have recently started itcing like crazy since we moved in to our new place. I’ve seen ONE flea and trust me we’ve searched so I really honestly don’t think it’s a flea allergy. I am sure there is more fleas but this is something else I am posotive of it. One dog seems to bite at her back more than anything and the other one seems to itch her belly. They both have scratches all over their belly from this and a patch of missing hair onthe ones back. I called the vet and they suggested I try benadryl first. It helps but isn’t helping enough. I have an appointment for the vet but am not financially set right now to spend as much money as she said it would cost just to start testing and the shot they give them is $30 some dollars each. I don’t have credit cards so that wont help. I would like to try to find something as a trial and error and see if it helps before I spend all the money at the vet. I have one week before their vet visit to try something. Any suggestion?
