Q&A: And the owner of the day award goes to:::?
Question by Bells – Beach Bums: And the owner of the day award goes to:::?
Sharing and curious…
We had some people over yesterday and the subject of dogs came up for a couple of minutes. Food came up and of the females proceeded to let everyone know that her dog is HIGHLY allergic to the food that he’s eating. (I”ve seen him, choc lab mix….his belly looks RAW from all the hives and splotches that he itches constantly and licks at).
Anyhow…she feeds Beneful (cause she cant affort Eukanuba…that’s her words…lol). She says its cheaper for her to get a $ 10 bag of Beneful and a 3 dollar pill for the allergies…than a $ 50 bag of Eukanuba.
She then proceeds to say that she has to clean his anal glands WEEKLY…and he constantly get yeast infections in his ears.
I’m saying that this is more or less directly related to the crap (excuse me) food that she’s feeding him.
I dont care what food your dog eats…but if your dog has such severe problems with the food that you are currently on….would you switch to a “better” brand? Do you think the anal gland problems and the ear infection problems are due to the dog’s diet?
PS…he’s only 2 years old…so not an older dog.
ADD: I chuckled at the Eukanuba comparison too…more expensive crap in my eyes. She’s not very bright in more ways than her dog…and the term “you cant argue with STUPID” comes to mind. I kept my mouth shut…My roommate snickered and mentioned that “Murphy is on Wellness…he doesnt seem to have any problems at all”
PS. <
@Launi…the dog was diagnosed with food allergies….(or so she said herself). I dont know whether or not the anal glands and the infections are due to the food. But she did say that since she switched him to Beneful he’s been a lot worse

Answer by Bare Nekkid TRUTH!
Yes I would switch.
I fail to see how its “cheaper” when you constantly have to medicate the poor dog for allergies, ear infections, and to have the anal glands drained. Also consider- read the feeding guidelines for the foods.. you will probably find that you have to feed MORE of the cheap stuff than you do of the more expensive brand.. ussually 2-3 times more. Is that food really “cheaper” when you have to feed more of it?
