My dog has an allergy to flea saliva that we have been trying to treat (somewhat unsuccessfully..), but she is very itchy and has these two large patches of redish fur that is sort of crusty in texture, not like her normal fur on her back. I am trying to figure out what this is and how it can be treated, I think it might be from her saliva but I am not sure?
For background info she is a 2 year old maltese, and has been diagnosed with a flea saliva allergy. we’ve been treating her with antihistamines and they have not been very helpful so far.
thanks.

she’s on allergy shots every 3 weeks, antihistamines, and occasionally steroids, but the smell is ghastly and the house is constantly covered in a grey dust that is literally from her. It’s a nightmare. SHe’s s 3 y.o G. Shep. I don’t know what to do and it’s costing me a FORTUNE

I have a two year old lab boxer shepard mix. and we just got her recently she had a rash on her tummy and the Vet seemed to think it was allergies. So we tried a new food they recommended. and she was put on steriods, the rash went away and she was fine for a few weeks now she seems to be loosing hair in patches all over her underbelly. up by her chest and a little on her legs. Also her ear is in alot of pain there very red and theres sores in them. and its not mites or fleas as we have had her checked and given stuff to prevent it. shes now in alot of pain when her ear is touched she wimpers. i have an appointment comming up on monday but i would just like to know what you think it is i have a few pics. any answers are appriciated. please no rude comments shes a well taken care of dog.

my bichon frise, sometimes gets red patches on her skin.
We bought some ‘Ekoneem’ which is a cream to put on the red patch and it works wonders. her skin goes back to normal the next day.
But im so curious what triggers this. Do bichons have allergies to pollen? She straches alot (she hasnt got fleas or ticks) or maybe its something im giving her? any ideas?
If it keeps occuring i will take her to the vets, but just wondered if anyone knew why it happens?
