I think that these brands are some of the best dog foods out there. These are larger dog food companies, and therefore have more money for research and development to really perfect their foods.
In the past, I have tried some designer dog food brands for my dog and wasn’t impressed. The designer dog foods were overpriced and my dog’s stools were larger, which means probably less of the food was being digested or there was more filler. And on the designer dog foods, my dog’s coat was drier and he didn’t like the taste of them as much either.
I know that with certain dogs with foods allergies, certain designer foods may help, but otherwise I don’t see the point of spending extra money on the designer dog food brands.
Opinions?

I know that Science Diet is one of the best dog foods, but I am currently in a financial slump and must buy grocery store dog food. My dog has bad skin allergies and I normally buy her Lamb and Rice . I was just wondering if either one of these brands was better than the other.

Anyone familiar with Purina HA (prescription)? The vet just prescribed this for my boston terrier.
The reason I ask is, I’ve read prior posts saying dogs with allergies should stay away from foods with corn starch and soy….and low and behold, the first two ingredients on Purina HA’s ingredient list are “corn starch” and “modified isolated soy protein.” My dog was eating Beneful up until about a month ago, and then we switched to Canidae, which is supposed to be all natural.
Anyone here have any experience with Purina HA? I’m really confused, and it’s driving me crazy to see my dog suffer. Someone help!! Thank you.

Hello,
I recently took my golden retriever puppy to the vet and turns out he was allergic to his old food. The vet recommended “Purina DRM” , its very expensive and it is a fish oil based food for dogs with allergies.
I was wondering if anyone has bought this food for their dogs?

My minature schnazuer has skin allergies, so I switched his dog food from Iams to Purina Pro Plan. It says that it protects the skin, but I dont know if it protects from skin allergies. If you have used this product could you please tell me how well it worked or how it didn’t work for your dig.
