Question by aholmesemt: My dog won’t quit scraching and we have tried everything!! can anyone help?!?
I have a 3 yr old Black Lab that started scraching about 4 months ago. We have spent a fortune between the 2 doctors we are seeing (one is an allergy specialist) getting allergy testing done, fixing ripped ears with surgery, antibotics for the infections, shots, creams, food trials, shampoos, and pills. NOTHING has helped. We checked for mange 4 seperate times (they came out neg.) and have had someone come out and inspect the house for fleas (neg. also). My 2 other dogs are not having the same problems. He is now living in a e-collar and is miserable because he can’t itch. My husband and I don’t want to put him to sleep, but we have run out of options. PLEASE any suggestions at this point would help!!
I have tried the food trials and the oatmeal baths. I have also had him at the vet at least once a week for 4 months doing shots. Nothing is helping.

Squirt him with water when he’s itching.

Which spot?

If all three dogs have the same spot, and no others, it’s unlikely to be allergies – that would more likely be different for each dog and not localized.

Sound like they’re all contacting something physically irritating that’s causing the problem. Is there a dog door they’re passing through that is scratching them? Is it under the collar? The spot you apply the flea treatment to?

Sorry to answer a question with a question, but more information is needed.
