Question by Nicole, Nicole: What is the best sensitive skin shampoo for dogs?
I have two dogs. One pure breed blue Pitt, Ashley, (about 3 1/2 yrs old) and also a bull mastiff mix of some sort, Sticky, (about 4 1/2 yrs old). Sticky has always had skin problems since he was a puppy. My vet who i trust very much pretty much just said that some dogs have allergies to anything a human can, and believe me he has quite a few. Hes been pretty good since I’ve been using free&gentle detergents to wash his bedding in and since I’ve been feeding him Blue, and also had to change from stainless steel food bowls to ceramic because they gave him dog acne. But every time i give him a bath he breaks out in all these little bumps all over his body. It’s been going on for a couple of years now, and at first Ashley never had a reaction, but now or the past year she has been too. It’s weird, it’s almost like she caught it from him… not that i would think that’s possible, but it just seems weird to have the same reaction. He acts like he isn’t affected. but I know he has to be. Some times the bumps scab off every once in a while. I’ve tried soooo many different kinds of shampoos. Maybe it’s the way i wash them? I don’t know. I feel bad giving them baths but they get to stinky to skip them. If anyone has a suggestion, pleeaseee let me know what to do. Any brands of anything. Thanks!!!

Sounds funny and it’s not even for dogs but I use Johnsons Baby Shampoo on all 4 of mine.

Question by Lou-Lou?: what shampoo would you recommend to use on a white sentive skinned stafford shire bull terrier?
i have a white staffordshire bull terrier, after a bath she goes an off-white colour after about 5-8 days! so i was wondering about this shampoo:
http://www.petsathome.com/find/category-is-2+dog/category-is-2g+grooming/category-is-2G04+Shampoos+and+sprays/product-is-20931#product-detail
but should i stay away from that because she gets skin allergies in the summer or should i use the ‘whitening’ one in the winter and this one in the summer:
http://www.petsathome.com/find/category-is-2+dog/category-is-2g+grooming/category-is-2G04+Shampoos+and+sprays/product-is-20936#customerreviews
because at the minute she has ‘hives’ which are lumps on on the skin, also a while back she got bald patches they went but her fur has thinned out and skin has became dry and a bit flakey which is unusual for her skin allergies.

would you go with health or looks, i would go wih health but what would YOU recommend
thanks
the vet recommended us to look around because she has been having allot of shampoo’s from the vet she has had 6 differen ones all costing around £20-£35 and also £20 to be seen and this is happening every month so we are wasting around £50 a month and money isn’t flying around our household

The whitening shampoos work well, but can be drying to the skin. I would not use it on a dog with these issues. Your best bet would be a prescription shampoo from your vet that is designed to help with these issues. Most shampoos are just going to add to the skin irritation she already has.

Anyone know a good dog shampoo for sensitive skin?

Question by cari-marie: Anyone know a good dog shampoo for sensitive skin?
My dog has very sensitive skin and is very allergic to many things. The pet store recommended us a shampoo when we got her as a puppy (she is now 8mos.) Since we don’t bathe her OFTEN (once a month) and since she has just started showing signs of allergies, we kept using it. But now she is itchy and we want to switch. Does anyone know of a good shampoo for her, that maybe you or a friend has acutally used on your/their dog? (let me add, she’s just itchy, like her skin is dry for a couple of days after her bath, it DOES NOT cause any open sores or rashes, and I’ve already been to the pet store looking but their were so many different kinds and I just don’t trust employees anymore, I’d like something that you’ve tried and it’s proven to be gentle.) also, does anyone know a good way to keep them clean between baths? (we got a fence and like to play in the dirt! : \ ) thanks!!!
She is a pit bull and has allergies to other things as well (leaves, corn, fleas, misquitos, perfumes…that we know of) The reason I am (pretty) sure it is not our bathing technique is that the other pit (we have two) does not show any of these signs after a bath….only her.
we have changed her food to an all natural pet food which helped with the mass amount of shedding…recommended by vet
