I took my border collie to the vet because she has a really intense itch on her back and tail. The vet said it is flea allergies, so she gave the dog a pill to get rid of the fleas in 24 hours and some topical Advantage Multi. She is still itching like crazy. How soon will the flea bites (assuming the fleas are gone) stop bothering her?

My german shepard is miserable. I give him so much benadryl just to keep him sane. If he is not asleep he is scratching himself to death. He has almost no hair left on his back, he has terrible hot spots from his tail bone to the middle of his back. I have had him to the vet several times. I changed his food to a hypoallergenic food, he doesn’t even have one flea on him, the vets have check this too. He was on prednisone before but it swells his kidney to the point he can hardly pee. They checked that dosage too and it was fine and they said he just cant tolerate prednisone. All my friends are telling me I just need to put him down. He is 8 years old, and I love him, but I can’t stand that he is suffering so much. please help

I believe that both of my dogs have a food allergy and I am trying to think of what I can give them to stop them from scratching so much…i was thinking about applying an anti-histamine cream like bendryl or even toothpaste but does anyone have any other ideas?

I”ve taken my dog to the vet multiple times for itching and he said she has flea allergies. Even if only one flea gets on her, her entire body can become irritated. Last time, I spent $ 250 at the vet! But she doesn’t have any allergies besides fleas. Well, went on vacation and left her with the inlaws, came home, and there were a few fleas on her. We got rid of all the fleas with frontline and have been checking daliy. They have been gone for 4 days but she is still itching like crazy! Scratching all night and her back is sooo sensitive. What can I do to get her feeling better without going back to the vet??? (The itch relieving shampoo hasn’t worked.)
