I have an 8 month old puppy. I have the vet testing for worms as I type (he was treated 3x as a pup). He was originally on Purina One puppy. I have since switched him to Nature’s Variety, and now Nature’s Variety Instinct (no grain at all). The problem is, if I feed him more than one cup at a time, he gets horrible diarrhea. I mean cannot make it outside, running to the door, terrible diarrhea. I was thinking food allergies (hence switching foods), but if I only feed him one cup and wait an 30-60 min in between, he has totally normal stool. When switching foods, I did so gradually and he has gone through a 30 lb bag of Nature’s Variety, so I think I’ve given it enough time to work. He is a mix and he weighs almost 60 lbs now and when I only feed him one cup, he looks at me like “where’s the rest? I’m hungry!” Any ideas at all???
Got results. Worm test is negative. All vet suggests is switching foods.
I took him to the vet last night and was determined to get an answer. Well we did. Giardia. They gave him a shot of antibiotics and he’s got meds to take for the next week. Thanks for all of your help!!!

She is one year old, a small swiss mountain dog (shorthair tri colored) just went thru her first heat last month… we live in NE Wisconsin and I am wondering if it is the allergy season? Or could she be allergic to something else? I don’t think it is fleas or ticks or the two cats would have problems, also… any suggestions, ideas??? I will take her to the vet in a day or two if not better. she has suffered for a week already and it’s getting worse.. her outside area of her mouth is pink now, too.. her eyes are runny and her eyes are bloodshot. I tried giving her Benadryl 30 mg (she weighs about 30 pounds)… please help if you have any ideas…

I have a 1 1/2 year old yorkie and he has constantly been digging at his legs, belly, and hind quarters. He also rubs his face on the couch after coming back inside. I know this sounds like a flea problem, but I have been treating him for the fleas with a topical solution. It does seem to be wearing off a little early because I have seen a few fleas on him lately. Also he will only go outside and pee very quickly and come back inside, he doesn’t want to play outside like he used to. He has been diagnosed with allergies in the summer and he was on medication for it for the past two summers, but I have never seen him dig so much and not ever want to stay out. Is this just fleas and allergies or is it something else? Any idea of what could be the problem would help relieve my worries until the vet appt. on Monday.

He has a bad allergy to something causing him to be red in the genital area and have bad fleas and itching. He also has lost hair. He eats kibbles and bits dog food, and I don’t know if that was on the list for diarrhea causing pet foods.
